keep getting the connection was reset on secure pages on my fire hd

i used to be able to go to all sites on my kindle fire hd in firefox now if i go to a secure site it will not connect. this happens with chrome too i went to amazon underground and downloaded some crap from them which i cannot remove, could this be the problem? thanks
