How to disable new tab opening after clickinkg magnet link?
When i click magnet link Firefox opens blank new tab. How to disable that from happening? My previous pc/firefox didnt open new blank tab after magnet link and i dont remember changing any settings back then. I have tried Tab Utilities add-on but i couldnt get it work and Tab Mix Plus which worked some times but not that good that it prevents me writing this. I have NoScript and AddBlockPlus installed and settings on those are same as in my previous pc/firefox.
Please please help me with this annoyance, its driving me crazy. If problem gets solved before next friday i promise to drink pint of beer to honor all problem solvers out there :)

jscher2000 With my previous pc i just clicked magnet link and after that this download dialog popped up. Then i just chose save file and click ok. No tabs or windows were opened.
Now with new pc i made utorrent to open those magnet links but it allways opens blank tab and doesnt close it.
I didnt set up associations, i think when i installed utorrent it made those associations with magnet links. I checked it and all magnet links are associated with utorrent.
I know this isnt big problem but its annoying when i have to download lots of small files. Before i just clickety click all of them and now its a lot of slower.
I found somekind of solution but im not sure if itll backfire at me in some point. I opened about:config. Then searched browser.link.open_newwindow and changed it from 3 to 1. This was something i found from internets and it prevents blank page appearing.

As i said this blank page popping up was not problem with my previous pc.

Edit. I found TargetKiller named extension which does the job without tampering with about:config. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/targetkiller/

It's not Firefox. It's the way the link is set up. Some will just open in the current. Others open new tabs/windows.
Am I the only person who doesn't know what a magnet link is?
Okay, looked it up, it seems that a magnet link should trigger a download handled by your torrent client. Sometimes Firefox doesn't realize immediately that an external program will handle a particular link and it opens a new tab or new window and then closes it and shows the download dialog (Open/Save/Cancel). Is that the pattern you're seeing, or is the problem that the tab is left open?
How did you set up the association between magnet links at the particular external program? Maybe that doesn't follow the normal download handling logic.
I am set up as you said, but windows and tabs still open. I just close them.
