Authentication failure with SMTP-server

I've been running Thunderbird for years on Gentoo which has version 115.10.1 as the most recent. I don't send much mail so I'm not exactly sure when this problem occurred, but I'm unable to authenticate with my SMTP server. I have not changed any configuration. Some weeks ago a changed my password on the server, but I made the appropriate changes to Thunderbird password manager. All settings, username and passwords are 100% correct as I copy pasted all of them. IMAP on the same server (uses same credentials) works.

I have tried deleting and re-adding my accounts which did not help. I have also tried deleting my profile folder. All other mail clients (e.g. claws-mail, kmail, mailspring) with the same SMTP server don't have any problems sending mail. This problem seems to only affect Thunderbird and Thunderbird forks such as Betterbird.

I have no firewall and am using SSL authentication with cleartext password on the SMTP server.

I get the following output to console on attempted sending of message:

I recently had a accident with Mozilla Thunderbird, where I lost all of the mails from my INBOX. The INBOX file in profile folder became completely empty, showing file size had dramatically decreased from gigabytes to couple bytes. I have tried everything to restore my mails without success. Can anyone help?

Start on Windows start-up

How come there isn't a setting to start Thunderbird on Windows start-up? Other relevant e-mail apps seem to have such a setting, which is logical, as the e-mail app is something many people want to have on all the time.

Having to google how to manually add apps to Windows start-up folder in 2024 feels silly, and might even be too much to ask for some users who aren't "good with computers".

There's a reason why most relevant apps have such a setting, and that reason applies for Thunderbird aswell, so stop being stubborn and conservative and get it done.

Links on mail don't open. Links work well if mail is opened without Thunderbird, on browser. Or if manually copied to browser. So, the broblem is in Thunderbird.

Hei! Minulla on ongelma, johon en ole saanut apua mistään ja jota en kerta kaikkiaan ymmärrä. Kun selaan Ylen uutissivuja (yle.fi), jotkut sivuilla olevat videot toimivat, jotkut eivät. Samalla sivullakin saattaa yksi video toimia, mutta muut vain jumittavat. Mitään virheilmoitusta ei tule. Vika ilmenee kaikilla selaimilla (Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Opera). Kaikkialla muualla - myös Yle Areenassa - videot toimivat.

VPN ei ole käytössä. Poistin mainosten esto -laajennukset ja myös F-Securen, mutta eivät vaikuttaneet videoiden toistoon. Reititinkään ei liene vian aiheuttaja, koska videot tökkivät, vaikka katkaisin yhteyden reitittimeen ja muodostin nettiyhteyden puhelimeni kautta. Videoiden laadun säätö (hammasrattaasta) matalammaksi ei muuta mitään. Microsoftin kehotuksesta asensin jo uudelleen käyttiksenkin (Windows 11), mutta ei auttanut sekään.

Videot toimivat ongelmitta iPhonella ja iPadillä ja myös sukulaisteni Windows-koneilla. Mikä ihme on, että ne eivät pelitä kunnolla kannettavallani eivätkä myöskään mieheni kannettavalla (jossa on Win10)? Ja miksi esim. sivun https://yle.fi/a/74-20083155 ylempi video ei toimi, mutta alempi toimii? Sivuilla https://yle.fi/a/74-20083392 ja https://yle.fi/a/74-20083500 videot vain jumittavat ja nykivät.

Firefox tabs always crash on the same sites

I have Firefox version 115.9.1-1.el9_3.x86_64 from RHEL 9 appstream repository. RHEL version is 9.3 (Plow). I have found that when I visit certain sites or pages the tab… (lue lisää)

I have Firefox version 115.9.1-1.el9_3.x86_64 from RHEL 9 appstream repository. RHEL version is 9.3 (Plow).

I have found that when I visit certain sites or pages the tab always crashes. Other sites work without problem. Issue happens without any addons, after cleaning history&cache, with new profiles and even after reinstall of Firefox.

Examples of sites where the issue happens: - https://crypto.stackexchange.com/ (All addresses on the domain I have tried, while other Stack Exchange sites work fine.) - https://www.xxl.fi/ (All pages from frontpage dropdown menus crash but links from the frontpage to product pages work. Other language version of the same shop does not crash: https://www.xxl.se/)

No errors are visible on the console when tab crashes.

I have tried changing settings such as disabling hardware acceleration but it did not make any difference.

How could I fix this problem or at least find more information about cause of it?

Ilmeisesti firefoxin koko akaiformaatti on yhtäkkiä ja täysin vastoin tahtoani muutettu 12 tunnin formaattiin 24 tunnin formaatin sijaan. enkä löydä keinoa muuttaa sitä takaisin. Ottaa syvästi aivoon.

Recently, Thunderbird started to exhibit the following behavior:

We sent a test message around 2024-03-18 08:26:00, immediately after starting the logging.

We finally see the message sent to the Sent folder on 2024-03-18 08:33:19.130595 UTC.

I'm unsure when the message was finally written to the server.

After this, there is also a problem opening the Sent folder. Basically, the new message won't become visible until after about 20 minutes.

After initially waiting for this, the error changes a bit: Sending starts working, but updating the Sent folder still takes around 20 minutes. In other words, the sent message won't become visible after 20 minutes.

After sending a message, it takes around 20 minutes to appear in the Sent folder.
