Firefox presents no problems with popups in contrast with Thunderbird. In Thunderbird popup window for e.g. Tools or Settings opens in mini size and is elusive, unreadable and unclickable. For this reason it is, for example, impossible to print any email messages. Printing is no porblem with Firefox.

That will depend on what the delivery method is. If it is an EXE file, run it. It will wither create an installer or actually do the install. Most common these days is do the install, as your not alone in your limited skiill set.

Thank you for speedy response. Hope this annoying problem is solvable. How do I post the screenshot which I have saved on the desktop?

more options

The same popup problem exists with Firefox, too, though it does not bother as much.

This is the form page I am on. It does not look like yours at all. https://support.mozilla.org/fi/questions/1040012#reply-form-main. How to get the right form for me to post the screenshot?

more options

I've had a look and it is only a different language. It says Lisää kuvia: with 'Browse' button below. I'm here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1040012

or if I click on the 'Post a Reply' button that was in the email. it opens here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1040012?utm_campaign=questions-reply&utm_medium=email&utm_source=notification

Here is the screenshot (or would be if I only could find the box for attachments such as screenshot). I am now on this page you are using https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1040012#reply-form-main and it looks exactly same like the ones I have used before for questions and replies.

Clearly we are not seeing what you are seeing. I see no difference in anything except for language version. Please send me an email with image as attachment. I do not generally respond to anything sent personally, as I keep all communication in this forum. But to get over this hurdle send to: mail at anje dot co dot uk

PS you could send me both images - the one regarding the drop down popup windows open in mini size and also the image of what you see when replying in the forum.

Hi christ1 Image showing pop up issue.

more options

That pop up box is at least half the size it should be.

Please test to check this is not being caused by an addon. 'Help' > 'Restart with addons disabled.'

When restarted in Safe mode, check the menu icon pop up box size. report back on results.

more options

Toad-Hall suggested to disable addons. Now this is where my popup problem makes life difficult: to access settings or any other functions (tools etc) is practically impossible as the popup window is unreadable or elusive. Addons could well be behind the problem and I would surely wish to test that.

I see in the image you have Ohje in the tab.

Is this 'Help' in finnish ? Does it have the option 'Restart with addons disabled' ?

Otherwise: Close Thunderbird. Hold down 'Shift' key and restart Thunderbird. It should restart in safe mode - there might be a small window asking for you to continue in Safe mode.

What version of Thunderbird are you using ? The up to date version is 31.3.0

What version of Firefox are you using? The up to date version is using 34.0.5

What is your OS ? eg: Windows Vista, Windows 7 etc.

more options

Toad-Hall. Both Thunderbird (31.3.0) and Firefox (ver no ?) are uptodate as far as I know. OS is Windows 7 SP1 (latest update 19 Dec 2014). Thunderbird popups appear normal when in Safe mode. Now, what next?

more options

Do you have any themes installed?

more options

Zenos. No themes in use. (Note: popup problem over when in safe mode.)

more options

Firefox is ver. 34.0.5 (updated Dec 9).

This means maybe one of your addons is causing the issue.

restart in normal mode then disable one addon at a time and retest the drop down until the issue disappears. This will then tell you which addon is causing the problem. Maybe an addon needs updating.
