"Video can’t be played because the file is corrupt" but video can be played using Chromium, MPV, and VLC.

Does it play if you restart into Troubleshoot Mode (from Help menu)?

It turns out I had to install different software.
I too experience "Video can’t be played because the file is corrupt" even though other browsers handle the .mp4 files just fine on the same Linux system.
I'm glad "anonymous" found a solution. However, saying "...install different software" does not inform the reader about how to address this Firefox problem.
I'm forced to use a different browser for some video content. Mozilla says Firefox uses codecs provided by the O/S, but that's also unhelpful. Curiously, the same .mp4 videos play well on Firefox for Android. Too, though I'm not 100% sure of this, the problem may have started with fairly recent Firefox versions.
Some kind of meaningful advice (e.g., a list of commercial software that plays mp4 files in Firefox) about fixing this would be much appreciated.
