Youtube videos won't play lately, but will in Chrome.
YouTube worked fine in the past, but for at least the last few days (likely longer) Firefox 103.0.1 won't play anything. Chrome works fine still. Other large transfers work fine.

In Firefox I see the initial video preview image, and after clicking to play I get a constant spinning progress animation but the video never plays. Turning on the debug overlay info shows plenty of download capacity detected (I forget the name in the UI) but very little ever transfers (bars further down).
Only oddity I can see in the debug info it puts in the the clipboard is the wrong Angle GPU. I have 2 x NVIDIA 1080ti's in SLI, and it sees a 980. Chrome shows the expected value instead. I filed a bug on the Angle project just in case. I looked on the Firefox about:support page with hardware acceleration disabled and it showed two webgl driver entries (1 and 2), both with 1080ti listed.
I tried disabling the performance feature setting and hardware acceleration (closed app then opened again). No difference.
Windows 10 x64, latest patches. Latest NVIDIA drivers through GFE (auto updates itself). Two Windows 10 graphics options are on (GPU scheduler and Variable Refresh Rate).
I've seen a couple notifications from Windows about Firefox "attempting" to use GPU hw acceleration, but I have no idea why it'd be blocked. Clicked it and it did nothing. I looked in my event viewer and didn't find anything useful either. I haven't manually set any applications to use a certain GPU. Integrated GPU from CPU is disabled in BIOS.
GPU isn't overclocked. CPU is barely. And I see no reason to think this is related. In the past I'd get reboots and event viewer errors. Even when it worked in the past I was similarly overclocked. All programs (diagnostics) I've run to verify proper functioning have passed.

Thanks for looking. This has been failing for days, but randomly this video just worked. Sometimes I hate computer :(
As for Windows 11...Too old of a CPU (i7-4790k), no TPM module, and no money (unemployed for a long time). Didn't feel like forcing it to install and being told my system was completely unsupported now.
But part of me is considering it anyway. It's been a while since I installed this OS, and I have oddities I can't fix (icons missing in start menu search results...I tried a number of things). Already have run dism and sfc to see if it'd do anything (first time it did).
I still see the wrong gpu listed in their debug info. I don't know if that is a Firefox or YouTube or Angle or whoever thing. I hesitate to file it under Firefox's bug area. I can't find a YouTube bug area, or actual support method (just their help area or blindly fling feedback at them). Already filed a bug with Angle...I'm curious what they'll say.
Looks like the resolution is different today. It's set to auto. Earlier it was trying for 480p, and today it played 720p. Or maybe it just would have adjusted higher after seeing my bandwidth (seems to take a moment to increase in the debug overlay).
Anyway...enjoy your weekend :). I'll come back and yell if it breaks again. I'm still worried about that "attempted to use GPU hardware acceleration" message out of the blue.
Sorry I didn't flag as solved. The issue disappeared which feels different.
I disabled the few I thought could be an issue (uBlock Origin for instance), and tried a "private window" which I thought disabled all add-ons typically. Both tweaked tests gave the same results as the first try (that day and many days before on other videos).
I tried again today and it played fine with all my add-ons enabled again, and hardware acceleration enabled (like my original failure had...but I'd tested with it off just in case too).
Again...issue is gone today, but was very real for a number of days on various videos (I don't watch a ton of YouTube). Wish I knew what fixed it.
i am facing similar issue and since last 15 days not able to watch any youtube video on mozilla firefox. my firefox version is 104.0.1 (64bit)
