Despite the fact I have set Firefox in permanent private browsing, I routinely have to use the "Clear Data" command to remove cashed web content. I don't like stuff being dumped on my hard drive. Recently I have been unable to remove some of this cached web content, initially 32Kb, but now it is up to 752Kb - could this be malware?! How can I find out what it is and how can I remove it?

A few days after posting this, the "cached web content" went up to 3.1Mb ... definitely not happy with this at all. Fortunately, the latest security update for Linux Mint (received 20/10/20) seems to have fixed the problem.
