Firefox fails to open Windows Live Mail when you click on a mailto link

Windows Live Mail is set as my default email client in Windows and also in Firefox options, but when I click on an email link in a website the Live Mail does not open. I have tried the same links in Internet Explorer and the compose window of Live Mail opens.
