I want better control of formatting text: your "Remove Formatting" option actually doesn't remove any formattting

Hi, when using Gmail with Firefox 55.0.2 on Zorin/Ubuntu Linux, I want to change the line formatting to "single space", with no extra space between the lines - what I call "normal" spacing. The text formatting bar's "remove formatting" option (bar shows up at the bottom of the email I'm typing) does nothing: the spacing stays "as is". However, If i type the text in my text editor and then copy & paste, it shews as I want: single spacing, no additional space between the lines of text.

Can you fix the "Remove Formatting" to do just what is says it's supposed to do: remove the formatting?

Thanks,

Taz
