I've tried disabling and enabling hardware acceleration as well as uninstalling and reinstalling, but nothing has been working. Almost every time I'm idle for a minute on the computer and then open a new tab and start typing, black bar glitches appear over the words and links. And when I exit a fullscreen video, the search bars are incredibly blurry and glitchy and often parts of the video are still showing up and they only disappear once I hover over them. It even happened while I was typing this question.

I have a Razer Blade 2016 laptop running Windows 10. Any suggestions?

Type about:preferences#content<enter> in the address bar. Across from fonts and colors, press the Advanced button. On the bottom, turn on Allow Web Sites To Choose Their Own.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

If you keep having problems then create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

I've tried all of these things, and nothing seems to work. Something that did help a bit was deleting AdBlock Plus and switching to uBlock. And I also removed some old themes that lingered a bit. It's better now, but occasionally there are glitches and it's super annoying. I might retry a bunch of things again just to see.
