If I try to attach an old file IN THE DIRECTORY I DID MY LAST ATTACH FROM when using Firefox on my PC, everything is ok.

BUT if I try to attach a NEW file IN THE DIRECTORY I DID MY LAST ATTACH FROM when using Firefox on my PC, the file usually is NOT displayed in the list of available files -- BUT IT IS THERE!!

note: I DO NOT have this problem when using IE

observation: I think you are cacheing the contents of the current attachment folder and thus don't see any new files.

I pretty much have stopped suing Firefox doe to this problem

Hi hp911. I understand that a file not being listed in an attachment dialogue when using Firefox. In order for the file to appear the file must be successfully saved. If another program is editing the file at the same time and has not yet been saved sometimes it will not appear.

NO -- your answer is not satisfactory.

I save the file (ex: as in a Word doc).

I then try to attach it to a yahoo email I am composing in another window. It does NOT appear in the attachment popup on my Windows PC.

This behavior is typical under Firefox, and does NOT occur when using IE.

Does it work if you temporarily go up one level to its parent directory and reopen this directory?

I'll try that suggestion and let you know

I TRIED YOUR SUGGESTION:

The file is in c:\a\b\c. I just saved it there. It does NOT appear in the firefox attachment popup.

I go up a level (in the attachment popup) to c:\a\b, and then back down to c:\a\b\c. The file does NOT exist. I am SOL.

If I try to attach the file in IE, the IE attachment popup shoes it properly.

I am on a WIndows PC with Windows 7; I get the same behavior on a range of other machines I own with varying levels of Windows.

Truthfully, I don't know why you aren't being bombarded by upset/furious users. This bug makes Firefox close to unusable IMO.

Sorry ...

Are you sure that Firefox is showing all file types in case this file is currently not covered?

more options

YES -- I am completely sure that it has nothing to do with the file type.

We could schedule a time and I we could do a join.me or something like that and you could see this yourself and confirm what I am saying.

If you like that idea, pls tell me what hours you are working and when we could possibly do this.

This should work for you and I don't understand why it isn't.

For example, I am constantly uploading screen shots with my replies on this forum. Sometimes I forget to actually save the file in Paint before I hit the Browse button, so I leave Firefox with the file dialog open, switch over the Paint and save the file, then come back to Firefox. I've got the dialog in Details view sorted by modified date, so the new file is there at the top ready to attach.

Do you have the problem even with this forum? Note: use image files for testing.

I DO save the file before attempting to attach it and the firefox attachment popup DOESN'T show it.

I have offered to do a join.me or similar so you can watch as this happens.

let's set that up,

At the moment screenshares have not been something recommended in support so far because of lack of resources. However, I was able to edit a picture in a folder and did not see it removed when I kept the File Upload dialogue open for a Facebook post. I apologize I was not able to reproduce this earlier.

It will vary from website to website how they have implemented their File Upload handlings..

If using asp it might only list the files once and a live feed, not like the previous examples:

See how they can be different by website?
