Fire fox does not close completely, I have to go to task manager to close before I can restart it. I was fine until recent update to 29.0.1

Firefox will not start after closing, it says it is still running, I then need to go to Task Manager and close it before I can open it again. This problem just started after update 29.0.1 installed. I tried the suggested fixes with no success. I finally downloaded and installed Firefox 28, turned off auto update... it now works fine. I would like to find the cause of it hanging, after update 29.0.1, so I can reset it to "auto update" and get back to normal. I am running Win 8.1 in a Dell XPS 8500, 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 processor 3.40 GHz, 16 Mg ram,
