as noted, this only happens when the email client is launched and will not happen each time. I have tried without the dictionary, as it is so random it can take a while to occur, but that does not seem to make a difference.

With Thunderbird I follow the same procedure I used with Firefox: After installation I copied the profile folder from my backup and replaced the new one. That worked out well. With Thunderbird, I followed the same procedure, all my emails where there but not my local folders. I am attaching several snapshots to illustrate my steps. Image 1 "local folders now" Image 2 "Profile Folder". (why there are 2 sub-folders)? Image 3 "Mail in the profile folder" Image 4 " List of folders in my Local Folders" The are there, how do I get them back on Thunderbird in the correct place "Local Folders"? Hello, I received an email from Spectrum (.TWC) that I needed to change my password by Nov. 11th. I did change it last evening. Now today I cannot receive my email via Mozilla Thunderbird, I receive the pop up to Enter the Password when I open it.
Then a second submit I added: -I came to search helps as to why I need to add the password every time I open Thunderbird's password. I searched and found something similar to what I am having problems with here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1525666
I removed the password that was there for years, I then shut Thunderbird, retyped the new password and it still does not work, and in the Settings Security Password there is no more the TWC in the list but only the hotmail account I have also in the list. Now I do not know how to ADD a new Password in the Settings Password. I am stuck there. No more emails coming in for two days now.-
Then the third submit I added: -I still cannot set the Password that the support above said to remove, I cannot add a new password and the settings shows that .twc is not on the list any more for Setting Security.
Also once in a while it shows a pop up at the right bottom of the page. I added it as an image.
Can someone please help me with this so I can get my .twc mail back. I tried myself and it does not work, I've read many Helps and it's not the issue that I have.-
I tried the original password, made several new ones and it still not working nor showing the .twc account password in the Settings, Security and Passwords area.
I am at a loss and need TB to work as it was before Spectrum informed that I need to change my Spectrum Password before Nov. 11.

For years, I have been routing all my Gmails through Thunderbird very seamlessly. Then my computer crashed.
Nothing on my hard drive was retrievable...so I had to download Thunderbird onto my new computer. I then proceeded to move all my Gmail to this newly downloaded Thunderbird. I had many different files in Thunderbird on my old computer, so everything was tidy and easy to find. When I opened Gmail after losing my old computer, I was relieved to see that the files, and the way I had them organized was the same. So, I assumed it would transfer over to the newly downloaded Thunderbird that way.
However, when I moved all my Gmails to the newly downloaded Thunderbird, all 3200+ Gmail emails were lumped into Thunderbird's "inbox".
What can I do to get everything back into their folders like they were before?

Spectrum forced a password change and now I can receive but not send emails from TB. I have spoken with Spectrum support, been through everything suggested on both the Spectrum and TB forums --multiple times-- including deleting and recreating the account, editing the password, checking for typos, blank spaces, changing the TLS security minimum, running in troubleshooting mode, etc etc. and nothing has worked. I have TB 140.4.0esr on a Chromebook with ChromeOS 141.0.7390.135 and Debian GNU/Linux 12, no separate antivirus program or firewall but do have Malwarebytes. The only recent update was to ChromeOS but that was weeks before the problem developed. I have two other (non-Spectrum) accounts set up on TB and they work fine. I can send emails from Spectrum's website but this is not a permanent solution. These settings match those provided by Spectrum, although they only show SSL, not SSL/TLS.

I have had to manually move messages intended to be saved from Trash into my intended folders. I am perplexed why this is happening, as I have not chosen Compact Folders or anything. This is maddening. A couple of days ago TB started to freeze. I have not added any new add-ons. I don't even have any add-ons. I tried one suggestion of repairing and compacting folders and that did not help. I also tried the accessibility.force_disabled change from 0 to 1. It is still happening. I have to use Task Manager to shut it down because if I right-click and close it tells me that TB is already running but not responding when I try to restart it. It takes 4-5 tries to get it to the point where I can have a few minutes to do anything in the program. If I leave and come back, the mail window is frozen. Help, please! I have been using TB for years and never had this problem!

My gmail account in Thunderbird has only two folders, the Inbox and the Drafts folder. so when I delete a message, it lines out the message in the inbox with a single line strikeout and then in order to get it out of the Inbox I have to leave the Inbox and then when I come back to it the message is actually gone from the inbox. When I am using my laptop rather than my desktop computer, all of the folders are there and the messages, when deleted go to the "Trash" folder and are removed from the Inbox. I have been looking for a way to get all of those folders that are normally a part of the other accounts that I have on Thunderbird without success. Is there anyone here that knows how to restore those additional folders to the Gmail account that does not currently display them?

The problems may be my fault since I've grown older, I've tended (believed) using new versions of software present my mind a BIGGER challenge than using the older software/version I have been successfully using? I'm still using Version115.10.1
After our ISP chose to start using Zimbra Oct. 7, 2025 and their tech support could not assist me in getting TB working the had me remove POP3 settings for TB and change to IMAP with their software.
FINALLY someone helped me get TB working with IMAP. For 3 days grrr. Now the ISP says I need to use their web mail, Zimbra.
So might downloading the current TB version and somehow get the In box, all the folder contnets etc. over - into the new TB help?
I was going to backup everything tonight, now I have little to NO hope, without help!

I am having recurring problems sending e-mails, not knowing when it is going to work or not. The following message is one that I usually get:

I also get the following message when trying to send:

OK, so I have 4 different emails on my Thunderbird account. I get the most email from my usa.net (Netaddress.com) account, but that has never been an issue -- as my inbox gets huge I just move the contents into a dated archive.
I have already looped back to the people at usa.net and all of my settings are correct.
Here is the issue: Out of nowhere, a few months ago, when I tried to download my USA.net email, it would stop after 100-200 emails. Also, it would NOT "register back" to USA.net and show the downloaded items as "gone" (I checked my settings; I am NOT leaving email on the USA.net server).
I even tried deleting a ton of emails on the USA.net server side via webmail, and it still just stops after 200 messages max. I then need to dump out what was downloaded to another folder or I get the error below (see upload).
I hadn't changed anything on my settings when this started. USA.net DID start a requirement several months ago RE using SSL, but I didn't have problems when I initially made the switch.
Help, please! When it stops downloading I either get no message, or I sometimes get the message shown.
How to fix please? Again, this is the ONLY email account that I have this problem with; if some kind of "limit" was being hit it wouldn't be letting me download from other accounts, including my "business" email (basically I use USA.net for all of my newsletters, online purchases, etc).
