Hello,

I have saved message templates that I use. Each one also has a footer (which I save as an .html file).

When I use this template to send a message, the image in the footer doesn't load and I get the message: Thunderbird has blocked the file from loading in this message.

When I click UNBLOCK, nothing happens. The image still doesn't get added. It's a very small image from my footer/signature. 'When I compose a new message, I don't have this problem' – the image in the footer loads and is sent to the recipient. This problem occurs when I try to send a message saved in the templates. There's no way to "unblock the image" and send it.

Recently I have noticed some changes in the way my Thunderbird downloads POP3 messages. Previously, it would be common to ask for new messages once a day and receive upwards of one hundred of them. But in the last month, this number has been limited to about 35 at a time. If I ask immediately again, I get about 35 more, and this pattern continues as long as there are messages in queue waiting to be downloaded. I am not sure if this is due to changes in gmail, where most of my received messages originate, or to changes in Thunderbird itself, or to some sort of third-party hack. Now that I have trained myself to keep on asking until there are no more messages coming down, this change does not cause me much difficulty, although initially it sometimes caused me to overlook messages because I failed to keep asking as long as I should have. Apart from that, it does not seem to be harmful as far as I can tell. I'd just like to know if other people have noticed anything similar, and if anyone knows what is causing it, and whether it has some hidden advantages over the way things used to work.

New laptop Win11.

Thunderbird installed and running, two differing ISP EMail addresses working.

Third address of four (fourth not yet tried) will not set, claims wrong user name/password.

This Email address (Sky as in Yahoo!) works perfectly on two other laptops under Outlook, it also works perfectly online from browser. So username/password is correct beyond doubt.

Possible complication (?) being while a Sky account address, login user name is an EMail for a different ISP's address. Did not have to do anything diff to basic login elsewhere though.

Ideas please?

Hi I get an error message that says "The connection to the pop3 server has timed out". What do I do? I haven't received any emails since wednesday at 3:14 PM. We use an email account fra a company called Yousee. When I check the server connection all info is correct. Please help as fast as possible as we use the mail every day in our company.

Dear friends, This is another question of the type "it has stopped to work after years of perfect service". I do: Tools/Message filters/. The filters are for me (only user). The "Enabled filters" drop-down list shows 238 items with virtually everyone enabled. Then I select folder to be filtered in the input window at the bottom; my "Sent" folder. Then, when I click the button "Run Now", nothing, absolutely nothing, happens. Normally Thunderbird lists messages like "Moved x mails from Sent to folder Y" .

Thunderbird 144.0.1 (64-bit) under Windows 10 which was first removed whereupon it was downloaded and reinstalled.

Hopefully someone has a suggestion where I can check for the cause of this error? Ch

How do I get back the choice to get a message brought in manually and other features that were above my account name. I unchecked a box (it was called something board) and it was gone but cant find it to restore the option. I right clicked on that to get a drop down menu with a few choices. I cant remember exactly what they said. One of the icons was for manually bringing in my mail, like a refresh option as well as some other choices beside it. This was visible above my account name which is just above the inbox. Anyone have any idea where I find that again to restore it? One click and it was gone! :-( Hope I explained it good. Thank you

Thank you for your help. I don't know when this started happening, but I noticed that the notification sound for new emails was not working. You can switch between the default (D) or WAV file (U) in Settings → New mail notification → Play sound, but it will not work no matter which one you select. Also, in the field for specifying WAV files, the directory of the file specified from the previous version is entered, but I cannot delete it (see attached image).

On the 20, of October I was forced to re install Windows 10. Kept my data but I had to re install all my apps. With Thunderbird I follow the same procedure I used with Firefox: After installation I copied the profile folder from my backup and replaced the new one. That worked out well. With Thunderbird, I followed the same procedure, all my emails where there but not my local folders. I am attaching several snapshots to illustrate my steps. Image 1 "local folders now" Image 2 "Profile Folder". (why there are 2 sub-folders)? Image 3 "Mail in the profile folder" Image 4 " List of folders in my Local Folders" The are there, how do I get them back on Thunderbird in the correct place "Local Folders"? Today my Windows 11 pro operating system updated itself to Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.7171) When I opened Thunderbird it required me to put my account details in and then accessed my IMAP details. All my folders and sub folders were there but no Local Folders. How can I import them into Thunderbird please. Thanks

I've been a Thunderbird(TB) user for many years. Or I should say "was". A few months ago my computer was hacked. As a result I was unable to access my TB account. Since then I've had no choice but to use Gmail.

  When I lost access to TB I also lost all of my contacts. Is it possible to get a list of those contacts. Even if it was just the names, and not the passwords, that would still be big help. My  username here was pwrichcreek@twc.com. That email address is no longer valid.

Somehow I have many emails on the same topic (like 40 or 50 of them, going back over several months, even years) all piled up on top of each other, and then I have to close them all one at a time when I need to switch off my PC.

It does not seem to be due to being in Conversation View. I have followed 2 or 3 videos re how to get out of Conversation View, going into settings etc, only to discover I appear to be not in it in the first place.

Is threading different from conversation view?

When I got rid of OpenOffice and installed LibreOffice, I ran into a problem. Attachments in the MSWord or MSExcel formats (.doc and .xls files) would not open when clicked on. Thunderbird would properly open attachments in the Open Office/LibreOffice file formats, but not the Microsoft format files.

In checking the file associations, I found they were all correct. MS Word files were set to open with LibreOffice Writer, and the MS Excel files were set to open with LibreOffice Calc, but they did not work.

HERE IS THE SOLUTION...

1) Reset the file associations for the Microsoft format files to "Always Ask." 2) Open an email with an MS Word attachment. (a doc file) 3) Click to open the attachment. 4) Thunderbird will ask you "What should Thunderbird do with this file?" 5) Tell it to use LibreOffice Writer 6) Check the box to "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." 7) Do the same with an Excel spreadsheet file. DONE.

Microsoft format files will now open properly from Thunderbird in LibreOffice.
