upgraded to Firefox 8 and google seems to havge taken over. I have lost all the file headings atthe top and all my bookmarks and can't get back

The screen format has changed with the top lines removed until the cursor is moved to the top of the screen; then they appear but without the usual headings and no offer of bookmarks which have been lost. How can I get back to my familiar format without interference from Google? Thanks
