11 Nov. I am unable to send or receive e-mail using Thunderbird. I have a gmail e-mail address. When I want to open Thunderbird, I am required to log in using Google. This has just been the case for a few days. Previously, I never had to do this.

It does not work. I cannot log in using Google. I get "Error message 400".

My account settings are: outgoing server smtp.gmail.com incoming server: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 connectivity security: SSL/TLS Authentication: 0Auth. Is there something incorrect in the Account settings?

Sometimes I get a message saying "Authentication failure while connecting to server".

I saw something on line about Troubleshoot Mode for Thunderbird, but I can't get there.

I desperately need to solve this problem. I have used Thunderbird for many years, and have a lot of data in Local folders. I do not want to lose all this data. Thank you.

Are cookies accepted in TB (not browser) Settings/Privacy & Security? Is there a VPN in use? If those factors are resolved, try removing the entries from Saved Passwords in Settings/Privacy & Security, restart TB, and see if you can complete the OAuth process with the account password.
