I am trying to get set up for video visit with my Doctor for Monday morning and when I try to test it I get this message. This action was blocked by your popup blocker. Would you like to open the link? How do I fix this? Thanks

You can check for issues with Total Cookie Protection.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Firefox by default has no popup blocker

Where did you get this misinformation? as (desktop) Firefox has had a built in popup blocker since forever.

There is this article as proof. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting as it was very easy to find in a simple search here.

Can you provide steps and a link to replicate your test? A full browser screenshot showing the issue would also be helpful.

The first one is the appointment, where it says test the hardware and the second one is the fail.

Thank you for any help you may give. I still have time to call the doctor's office Monday to check with them as well. I was just hoping I may find a solution this weekend.

Sincerely

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

You can disable the Firefox pop-up blocker as a test.

Thank you, I am sorry for all this. I called the doctor's office this morning and she will send me a link. I don't know why they have there webpage setup like that.

Again I am so sorry for taking up your time.
