So now there is a grey opaque screen laying over my Gmail theme background. I don't like it! Is there any way to get back to how the look was before? This all happened after I updated Firefox today. Thank you, -Tom

This could be about Google trying out some experiments and show this to a selected group of users.

You can try to clear the Google cookies to see if that has effect. Note that this will log you out, so you will have to login again.

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear
