My computer just came back from repair after being out for a week. Upon opening TB, my emails were retrieved from IMAP server. But some of them are not there. I can see them in a web-based client, or in GMAil. I just can't figure out why TB hasn't retrieved them. I just happened to notice one of them. I'll bet there's a lot more. How can I be sure of a complete sync? Should I delete, and re-create the account(s)?

Two things to try first: 1) Right click on the email folder (e.g. Inbox) in the Thunderbird left window and select 'properties'. Then select the 'synchronisation' tab and click the 'download now' button. This should grab all the messages in that folder from the server and show them on your machine. 2) Right click on the email account (e.g. Gmail) in the left window and select 'subscribe'. Make sure that you have ticked all the folders visible in your web-based client that you want synchronised with Thunderbird.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've tried both. Still missing emails. Very confusing. Should I do a complete re-do?

Hey, I just got another weird email, that didn't show up in my TB Inbox. The weird thing was that the inbox itself was highlighted in bold, which told me there was an unread message available. I was only able to read the email by going to gmail in a browser window. Very confused.

Maybe I should just start over?

Yes it's odd behaviour I agree, and I regret that I can't explain it. Maybe someone else on this forum who is more knowledgeable can provide an answer. If you do decide to start over, I would suggest that you make a backup copy of your present Thunderbird profile and keep it safe in a separate location. Then uninstall Thunderbird and delete the current profile (though not the backup copy of course), so that when you reinstall you really do begin afresh and don't carry over your present settings. That way you still have your current profile as an insurance if things go wrong. Good luck! John

PS It just occurred to me that you might want to check that the problem isn't due to any add-ons that you have installed. Try restarting Thunderbird in safe mode before you remove it entirely.

I get the same result in safe mode. Peter
