hi svetushka, where did they disappear from, do you happen to have a folder called "old firefox data on your desktop and does an external tool like http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/passwordfox.html still show them?

Hi, thank you for replying...there is no such folder on my desktop and Firefox files which keep password info were created as new during upgrade installation, I lost all my passwords...this version also saved my downloads I had today to TEMP folder and usually it was DOWNLOADS, I don't understand why it was necessary to mess up old settings and data, thumb down for this version

thanks for following up. could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? maybe this can give us a clue what is going on...

Experimental Features

thank you & i am sorry for this issue - as it looks at the moment this happens for a small number of users with an unforeseen configuration, probably triggered by a preference set by the Norton Identity Safe addon, which is present in your case as well. firefox developers are working on a mitigation for that problem as we speak, but unfortunately that can not help after the fact, when passwords are already lost.

do you have any form of backup of your firefox profile or your harddrive in available? if so, we can assist you in recovering any password data from there...

Hi I can't estimate how much norton add-on can influence on the fact that installation of a new version cleared a lot of settings, including settings of x-notifier and settings of firefox itself, for instance, settings that a newly open firefox restore previously opened tabs. There is another thing I discovered, I downloaded mp4 and it started playing it straight away and video was saved to temp folder instead of download folder which is in settings I am using firefox for many years and this is the worst version I came accross, very disappointing Thank you for offered help but unfortunately I don't have backup of firefox passwords

Forgot to mention..when downloaded file was saved to temp folder instead of downloads folder, I changed setting to "ask where to save" but next after this download still went to the same temp folder with no asking

Please advise how to fix persistent problem with downloaded videos, they are going straight to windows player instead of being saved in a specific folder, after shutdown they can't be found even via firefox library Thank you

you could enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named media.play-stand-alone. double-click it and change its value to false.
