how to make tabs easy to get to?

more options

Hi! Earlier this morning, I removed some old bookmarks that were automatically on Mozilla when I installed it a few months ago. But maybe that is what caused the problem - I don't know. But I do know that it is not as easy to switch from page to page as it used to be now. At first, it was extremely hard to find an "x" to exit at top right corner. I finally fixed that somewhat by changing some of my options in Mozilla, etc. But I still don't like how the page is filled up right up to the top of the laptop desktop. I don't like how I have to feel around to switch to another page. I don't like how other tabs sometimes can't be seen, until I click up in upper right corner. Maybe what I should do is to uninstall Mozilla and then reinstall it. Then I won't have to bother how to figure out how to manually get it back to the condition it was at first. I think I'll do that later today.

Sometimes the file that stores window dimensions and positions becomes corrupted and Firefox may be far too big for the screen.

You can try resizing Firefox using the window control menu, which usually appears when you press Alt+Spacebar. Maximizing the window should fit it to the available space, but for a resizable window, you may need to use various Move and Size commands to get it back into a sensible location.

If that doesn't work, you can try this:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old.

Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally?

I may be completely misunderstanding the problem but this sounds more like a problem with your screen resolution, rather than your Firefox settings. Do you mean you can't easily see the X to click on?

Right click on a blank space on Desktop, click on Preferences, then Appearances. You can make the scroll bar, the X larger, etc.

I'm pretty sure removing bookmarks had nothing to do with the issue.

If the whole title bar and toolbar area is missing, it's possible Firefox launched into its Full Screen view. The F11 key switches between full screen and regular views, so I would try that first.

You also could try sliding the mouse pointer to the very top of the screen to pop down the toolbar area and use the "3-bar" menu button to access the Full Screen item on the menu. Sometimes I have to move the mouse up twice or try to the right of my first attempt.

If you have some bars and not others, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and turn on the desired bars there:

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list.

Any improvement?
