How do I fix a problem when the solution tells me to close Firefox?
I went to the Help Menu because my Bookmarks Menu Items are not saving when I close Firefox and My Toolbar is saving or deleting items indiscriminately. Halfway through the solution the directions tell me to close Firefox?????????? thereby closing the remainder of the instructions for the solution. How that can that be?

Are you following the steps in this article: Can't add, change or save bookmarks - How to fix?
You have two choices:
- Print the steps before closing Firefox (either on paper or PDF)
- Display the steps on screen without Firefox, for example, by opening the page in a different browser, or copy/pasting them into a word processor, or capturing a screen shot of the page that you can view in a graphics program
I suppose intensively memorizing the steps might be a third possibility, but I don't recommend it in this case. ;-)
You can try a check with Places Maintenance:
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
It's like this. Something is wrong with your car, you go to the mechanic. They can't work on the car while it's running, right?
Really, well then I would suggest putting the steps you suggested in the Instructions and as far as the car analogy goes, the Instruction given would tell you to turn the car off while your driving it.
Hi AngieMe, the support articles are definitely not perfect. I believe some of them mention printing the instructions, and other do not. Each article has option in the left column to edit them. You can mark up the article with your suggestions and an editor will review them for inclusion in an update.
So the answer is to use another Browser to correct the problem in Firefox, Correct?
One way to make sure the instructions stay visible while closing Firefox is to view the article in a different browser. I suggested a few other methods in an earlier post.
