i installed firefox and the protection shield for windows 7 is in the icon and asking me if i want to allow changes to my hard drive I answer yes but it does not go away. When i say yes it then opens my home page but I have to do it everytime. I have now totally disabled my protection which is not a good way to fix this. I also can no longer play videos since I installed 38

Right click on the Firefox icon. Select Open Folder Location. This should open your file browser to the Programs\Firefox folder.

Right click the Firefox program and select Properties. Now select Comparability.

Is the Run This Program In Comparability.Mode turned on? As what?

Is the Run This Program As An Administrator turned on? Turn it off.

Please report back.

Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
  • "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected

How do you start Firefox normally?

Don't you have an icon on the desktop to start Firefox?

Such a desktop shortcut is normally created automatically when you install Firefox. If you have a shortcut for Firefox elsewhere then you can check that.
