I have security cameras around my place and want to display the video on my computer through a browser. When I try to connect, I get the message, "This website does not supply ownership information." Technical details also report, "Connection Not Encrypted." How can I fix this problem?

What software are you using to display the webpage with the videos? Encryption means that the web site is presenting a certificate that verifies itself. If you are seeing this, it means the website isn't doing that.

I have Mac OSX version 10.6.8 (the latest version I can install on my old Mac). I can display the video using Safari, however the latest version of Safari will not install on my version of OSX, thus my version of Safari (5.1.10) is almost useless (except to display the video from the security cameras). I want to move to Firefox and discard Safari altogether. How the video gets to Safari, I am uncertain. The installer of the Video Cameras installed the DVR to record the video, and somehow connected the DVR to my router, gave me the IP address, and bingo, it displays my videos. The version i have of Firefox is 37.0.1.

So what happens when you try to see the videos? You should still be able to see them even if the connection is not encrypted. Do you see an error message?

Also, who did you buy the cameras from?

I bought the system from a local installer. All I can tell you about the DVR is that it shows OPlex on the front and the manual says it is a Standard H.264. I'm not sure about the cameras. With Firefox, when I enter the IP address, I get a login screen just as in Safari. When I try to login, I get a message that says "Connect Failed". The security indicator next to the IP address is a grey globe. When I click it, it tells me "This website does not supply identity information" and "Your connection to this website is not encrypted". It also has a link for "More Information". That link opens a box that gives the same information plus a section with "Technical Details" which repeats the lack of encryption line, but adds, "Information sent over the Internet without encryption can be seen by other people while it is in transit." My response, so what? it wouldn't bother me if someone else was watching the grass grow in my front yard.

Is the login screen a browser dialog or a webpage? Also, can you post a screenshot of the login screen and the "connect failed" screen?

In this case, I don't think that's related to your problem.

I would also suggest contacting the installer of the cameras to see if they have any suggestions.

I have attempted to contact the installer, but so far, no response from him. Screen shots before and after trying to login.

If you click okay and then go to the console (right-click > inspect element > console tab), is anything shown there?
