Is Firefox Auto Update installing additional software?
I am finding Search Protect and Optimizer Pro on many systems that I fix, and I have isolated that it is getting installed as a free add-on to another program, and they all seem to have Mozilla Firefox..
When the automatic update occurs, is it installing anything beyond Firefox?
If so, and if it is installing Search Protect or Optimizer Pro, please stop this immediately. These programs lead to the "FBI Virus" which has been updated this year to be the "Homeland Security" virus.. Search Protect eventually installs Optimizer Pro, then if anyone tries to uninstall them through normal means, it installs or launches the virus rendering the computer useless.
These add-ons have become a major headache for customers at large, and has been a concern for me when fixing their computers..
If not, please let me know so I can rule it out.. I've been amazed by it appearing on computers of people who don't browse the internet, which is why I came to the possible conclusion above...

The software update in Firefox only installs updates for Firefox whether it is a partial or full depending on if you missed a update. Also the stub and full setup for Windows from www.mozilla.org only comes as Firefox as nothing additional is installed whether it be a toolbar or a separate application.
Firefox is becoming one of the fewer list of applications that is not bundled in with anything whether on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux.

Probably the last program that doesn't. Thanks.
