Bookmarks not updating

For a while now I have had the issue of the bookmarks not updating, especially bookmarks within folders. I am forced to open the bookmark manager (organise bookmarks), to check for the new bookmark, or I have to end firefox.exe and restart the program for it to update. The problem is intermittent, as it happens randomly, but it is not tied to the workload of the PC.

When dragging a tab into a folder, to add the bookmark, on the bookmark toolbar, the bookmark is added but I cannot see it. Whilst this "bug" is occurring I am still able to add bookmarks directly onto the bookmark toolbar and it shows them immediately. Dragging them from the bookmark toolbar into a folder has the same issue, as they do not show up. Deleting/editing existing bookmarks within a folder also does not update until firefox.exe is reset.

This all leads me to believe that there is an issue with the bookmarks not updating correctly and I would like to know what is causing it and how to remedy it. The extensions that I do use are not related to the bookmarks, so I have been unable to identify if any of the extensions are the cause (as the "bug" is intermittent).
