Youtube videoa won't play if "open in new tab/window"

I am using Version 128.8.0esr (64-bit)

If I go to youtube and select to try to play a video by "open in new tab", the video will not play unless I continuously press "k". Same result if it is a new window, includong private window.

If I click play directly, it plays.

Go to youtube and search for (eg) Hotel California. Try playing the Eagles' video in a new tab and it won't play unless the K key is held down. Go back to the original search results page and click play on the video and it plays.

This behaviour is new :(
