How do I disable back/foreward functions on my mouse's 4th and 5th buttons?

I use my mouse's 4th and 5th buttons with other applications outside of Firefox while browsing. Whenever I hit mouse4 I go back a page and whenever I hit mouse5 I go forwards. Is there any way to disable this function?
