I deleted a stored password by mistake for a site I use frequently. It no longer exists in the saved passwords. How can i reinstall it as FF is no longer asking if I want FF to remember password.

For security reasons I changed a password on a site I access very frequently. I removed the stored password in "options" and thought that when I opened the site with the new password, FF would ask if I wanted the new p/word rememberd. Why is FF not asking me if I want it to remember the user name or password? The site is not on my exception list. Most annoying!
