I recently downloaded FF, and this problem is completely preventing me from using this browser! I've tried refreshing FF, and still no fix has happened. I've read the articles about this error message, but to no avail. If I cannot get this resolved, I cannot use FF and will uninstall it. If anyone knows what the problem is and has a simple solution, please let me know. Thanks!!

PS: I saw "WildTangent games" bloatware on the list and uninstalled it just now.

It is probably your security software fighting with Firefox rather than working with it.

If you have or are considering using Firefox again please:

  • List all security related software you use with full name and version

Is that the article you have already seen ? Did you try following the advice, which did NOT include refreshing Firefox, because that probably will not help.

What is the exact error message you get please ? and does that have an advanced option to click that gives further information, if so what does that show ?.

Some antivirus clients can cause problems with secure connections in Firefox in their attempt to help you but instead make it worse.

Also check the simple things like making sure your system date/time is correct.

Thanks for your input. In order to id the security software for you, I was again blocked from doing a search for the McAfee details with the following message:

"Your Connection is not Secure"

"home.mcafee.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER"

Searching for several well-known sites results in the same error message and lack of access. They cannot All be invalid, especially McAfee.

Hi~ I did manage to overcome the error message I wrote about earlier; at least for now. But, when I try to access my Gmail login page I keep getting the error message that the "cookies are not enabled." I have then followed the steps to enable them, but No Luck; Still not able to access the login page.

If you have any suggestions, pls. let me know... Thanks.

Firefox's default settings are to enable cookies and local storage. If you haven't changed those settings yourself, is it possible that one of your add-ons modifies or overrides how Firefox's handles cookies?

The most relevant type of add-on would be an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Anything there look relevant?
