I run Thunderbird on a PC, and, to free up space on Drive C:, I have moved the contents of the folder Thunderbird in Appdata to Drive D:. I then changed my Server Settings, in Thunderbird, from C: to D:, and note that any new mail is indeed now appearing there along with those already transferred. This move could save me a valuable 6 gig of space, and more in the future, however, I am unable to remove that original Thunderbird folder entirely, notably I am unable to remove the contents of the Profiles folder, as it is still linked to the application. Notably with cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite-shm, store.json, mozlz4, aborted-session-ping and many others, which I note some have continued to be updated. I have been unable to find any other settings in Thunderbird referring to Drive C:, other than those in Server Settings.

I could presume that if I installed another version of Thunderbird on Drive D: and maybe moved those existing contents of the Thunderbird folder on C: onto Drive D:, and made those numerous settings changes to the App it could work. But I ask is there an easier way to complete this move? How can I complete this transition of Thunderbird from Drive C: to Drive D:?

I'm in the process of cleaning up Thunderbird e-mail before moving to a new computer. I started with 11,593 e-mails in my Inbox and 7,799 e-mails in my Sent folder. I'm now down to 7,634 in my Inbox and 4,965 in my Sent folder. I've allocated 2 weeks for this process and found that it's taking me about 3 hours per day to meet my daily goals. I'm finding that I'm spending at LEAST half the time responding to "Empty-Trash/Compact-folders" requests. There are times I can delete 50 e-mails at a time without getting a request. Other times I will try to delete ten e-mails and get the request. With the old version of Thunderbird I could literally delete hundreds of e-mails at a time. Can you help? Russ Bukwa Yardley, PA ps. I have 10 email accounts in my Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit) and I am using Microsoft Windows 10 Pro and all my sent, draft, archives and templates are going into a different folder. I want them to go into the folder from which the email was sent but they are all going into the email tinakeeling@att.net.

I have changed it to reflect the correct folder but then a few days later and every time I restart Thunderbird the program changes the folders back to tinakeeling@att.net

I have even unchecked the box "place a copy in" and when Thunderbird is restarted it reverts back.

What can I do to fix this issue?

I updated my desktop browser today and now there is an expandable sidebar at the left margin of the window showing tool icons for Tabs from other devices, History and Customize sidebar. I can see how to remove tool icons and how to expand or collapse sidebar but can I remove the sidebar completely? Is this an option? I prefer the old look with the browser web page content extending all the way to the left of the screen, without the narrow vertical sidebar.

I am running on TB release 60.5.0.

In the TB previous release, TF&SC worked fine for text (font) size control on incoming and outgoing messages. In the latest TB release TF&SC does not support the text (font) size.

The text size is miniscule. I can use the "ctrl +/-". However, this procedure is a drag when TF&SC has worked flawlessly in the previous TB release.

Is it not time for TB to have built-in text/font sizing control?

Your help on this issue would be appreciated.

I'm on tb 128 and use roadrunner. I see my emails on spectrum server but can't download them? I was using pop, they said imap is needed.

Running TB 38.0 on an iMac, OS 10.6.8. This seems to be new problem as of the past day or two. I noticed all sorts of extraneous contacts listed in the sidebar, and realized that those were in an address book, separate from my personal addresses, that lists incoming addresses I've granted permission to load "remote content." Eventually, I realized that this was because the pop-up at the top of the contacts sidebar was set to display "all address books" rather than my "personal address book." If I reset the pop-up to "personal address book," it displays the correct list, and will default to the "personal address book" in subsequent composition windows that I open during the same session. However, if I quit TB, when I relaunch TB the sidebar reverts to "All Address Books" by default. How can I get it to retain "personal address book" by default, even if this is the first message I'm composing after launching TB? It did so in the past!

The latest version of THUNDERBIRD was automatically downloaded yesterday. The first time I used it to do my e-mails, I noticed a MAJOR change in the addressing section. With earlier versions, once you typed in a person's e-mail address, and pressed the ENTER key, the NEXT open line for additional e-mail addresses was the SAME type as the previous one (To:, Cc:, or Bcc:). Now I noticed that when sending an e-mail to multiple addresses, each time you are forced to change the mode (To:, Cc:, or Bcc:) Do you have any idea how annoying this is??? WHY would this feature be included?

Also, WHY does the cursor disappear many times when editing an text message? This is also very annoying & has been an ongoing problem with several previous releases of T-BIRD.

Finally, I do not understand WHY, when editing certain text of an existing e-mail, when the cursor is placed at the end or close to the end of a line of text, AND the END key is pressed, the included text is highlighted. Pressing the DELETE key then moves the undeleted portion of the text line to a line ABOVE where it first appeared. This is very strange, and also annoying.

The Theme & Font size changer periodically stops working (all the messages become tiny) and goes missing.

I have tried reinstalling version 62.0 for TB, but nothing happens - in the past when I've done a reinstallation it has worked.

Can someone please let me know why this is happening?

P.S. I use the same Theme & font size changer with FF 57.0.4 and it works fine, never goes missing.

I used to use these add-ons

to make Thunderbird more attractive, but now I'm having constant problems. The interface has become schizophrenic, and every time I open it, the icons have a different style, so I've been forced to disable the add-ons.

The question is, are there any supported add-ons left? I can't find any on the website. :(

When I select "Edit as New Message" in Thunderbird (v52.9.1) on a Mac, the message editor comes up in html mode even if I have set everything to plain text.

I have read all the articles on this and done all the things people have recommended including messing with Advanced options, account settings, etc. However, none of these solutions work.

Attached is a screenshot showing the problem. The first screenshot shows my inbox. The second shot shows that "Edit as new message" comes up in html mode.

Please advise.

I would like to see the sender's email address in lieu of a name.

The inbox SELECT COLUMNS TO DISPLAY does not offer an option to DISPLAY THE SENDER’S EMAIL ADDRESS.

Both From and Correspondents display the same names. Perhaps replacing one of those with the SENDER’S EMAIL ADDRESS?

I just upgraded an old Outlook 6.x express to TB.

To my surprise the mail filter apparantly misses an essential functionality.

You cannot filter a mail address on it's domain, but only on the entire mail-address.

So instead a single filter on "@hotels.com", You must create a filer one each (new) name that appears, like

offers@hotels.com last_chance@hotels.com spam@hotels.com etc... etc...

And especially those ...pain-in-the-a***... rayban sunglass spammers, that change name every week cannot be filtered (thay know that TB misses this, so thats why thay do it).

This lack of funcionality is allso decribed in the online doc. with the use of the "from" and "is" in the filter rules, which only takes the full address.

COME ON MOZILLA - make the (simple) patch, so We can sort out an entire domain instead of that bird-picking.

I thought I upgraded from Outlook Express, but apparantly not, because this functionality has been there since ages...

Hi! I'm trying to set Thunderbird as the operating system default under Win 11. I tried to follow Mozilla's instructions: 1. Open the Settings application by pressing and releasing the Windows Start button, then clicking the gear icon. 2. Click the Apps icon, then click Default Apps in the list. 3. Click the icon under the heading Email to show your choices. 4. Select Thunderbird. The trouble is that at n. 3 there is no choice. There is only 'OutlookAccounts' and this item cannot be deleted or replaced. Can you help? All the best, Robifiori

I just updated to the latest version of Firefox, and all of a sudden I have a new icon, Extensions, that looks like a puzzle piece, I cant seem to be able to remove it....at all.

After following instructions twice I am stumped. Trying to install "Theme and Font size changer". Search, select install, restart TB. No change, no button, nothing in tools menu. All help is appreciated.

I have some websites that require pop-ups. I cannot get them to work in Firefox on my Android phone. Google searches reference a setting under "privacy and security" where I should be able to allow pop-ups in general or for certain URLs only, but I don't have that setting option.

I have Firefox version 139.4 if that helps.

The other day I accidentally pressed a keystroke that changed a Firefox setting, and now it thinks I'm on a mobile device/displays sites in mobile view where possible by default. This has persisted despite restarts of the browser and the computer and has been happening since Sunday (Australian time). I've tried opening the Responsive Design dev tool and I've sent screenshots to a techsavvy friend (I'm totally blind and use a screen-reader, so couldn't tell this was happening until I tried to use a site that had a radically different layout in mobile view), and aside from not seeing an exit button or a switch to change device mode, he couldn't tell what was going on.

I'm stuck and need help! I would like to unmobile my Firefox!

I had problems connecting with Thunderbird for 24 hours (I connect via an imap server from my Sky account). When this was rectified, email folders which I had created had disappeared. These contain historical emails which I can ill-afford to lose. How do I restore these?

Hello. In the past two days I lose my tabs when I shut down Firefox. I used to be fine using the X at the top right and when I restarted the browser, all my tabs would still be there. Then they started going missing, so I started using the menu option to exit the browser. The tabs still went missing.

Then I noticed the square icon button on the extreme left and have discovered that Firefox has different windows, and that one of them (see attached image) has all my tabs in it, while the current window does not.

I cannot change Window 2 to be the current window. There is no obvious function on the page, nothing in settings and google is useless - I just get pages of discussion of how to tab between different apps on the desktop.

How do I make Window 2 the current window? See image.
