I run normal firefox on linux. Fully up-to-date. Every time I quit the app, it reverts to a version of my profile from a month ago, and loads all the tabs I had open then, and then receives all the tabs that I sent to the device in the interim (~1 month). As I speak, it just caught the 60 or 70 tabs in this window.

I tried changing the name of my profile folder to randomstring.defaultOLD and changed one of the backups to randomstring.default. This didn't change the behavior. I'm still stuck in the loop. I saved my tabs with onetab, because firefox isn't remembering my session anymore. I thought it was something to do with updates, like it only loses its mind upon updates, but that's not true. It thinks it's updating firefox EVERY TIME, because the one time it's loading to 1 month ago it was updating, but I'm 100% sure there are no updates to firefox in my linux. It's just hallucinating.

The articles on restoring from backup are outdated. They say to use an html file. There is no html file. It's just folders for profiles, not html files. HELP!

I just read what I think addresses my problem but I'm too thick to Understand it all. My goal is to make my android browsing as private as possible without messing anything else up. Obviously I failed. In trying to do that I made it I made my bookmarks unreachable. What can I do to start over? Gary

Hello, Since this morning after an update of firefox the history is lost and my personal bar where I stored my bookmarks is empty now after applying version 155.0.1 the problem is still alive Help Please

I recently opened Firefox and noticed that all my data (bookmarks, saved passwords, and history) is completely gone. I didn't make any changes or delete anything myself.

Could you please help me understand what happened and how I can recover my lost data?

Running Windows 11. Firefox was running at the time the hard drive crashed. When installing FF on the new drive, found the last profile folder set to parent.lock. Since it's the entire folder, I can't see which of the files in the profile were locked. I have a backup of two weeks prior (separate issue -- I was unaware my nightly backups weren't working for two weeks), but I'd like to recover the bookmark and password changes in that time.

Is there a way to get into the folder, or do I just need to accept the loss and go with the previous backup?

After a update 154.0.1 and 155.0.1, 64 byt Firefox dod not keep the open tabs once started, but the bookmarks. After searching in Firefox help, neither I could not find a previous bakup folder, before the update data, so I cannot restore the history it manually, so I do not know what to do. I am trying to restore my firefox bookmarks and passwords from a back up I saved. I am signed into firefox in my browser, I go to restore back up and firefox restars and my bookmarks appearm but I'm signed out of firefox. When I sign back in, my profiles and bookmarks disappear?

My PC crashed and then upon opening up firefox it forced me to update firefox. Afterwards all windows and tabs disappeared but my browing history is still there. I tried the in-browser restoration but it is greyed out. I tried the session store backup profile data but has no 'previous' or 'back up' files, only 'restore' files that are empty and restore to no tabs or windows. What other ways are possible? It's weird my browsing history anf bookmarks weren't deleted at the same time.

I don't really know what had happened . . . . But as this Morning (9/1st/2026) It just seems that My Previous 100+ Open Tabs (that I was planning on Organizing this Friday) had just DISAPPEARED at like 12am on like 8/31st/2026 & 9/1st/2026 ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

ALL of 😭😭My😭Past😭Open😭Tabs😭😭 ??!!!

After a recent Firefox update, all of my saved passwords disappeared.

I checked my Firefox profiles and found that the current `logins.json` and `logins-backup.json` files were newly created on August 30, 2026 and contain no passwords.

However, in the older profile data I still have:

• `logins.db` — approximately 480 KB, modified August 19, 2026
• `key4.db` — approximately 288 KB, modified August 18, 2026
• `signedInUser.json`
• `storage-sync-v2.sqlite`

I opened a COPY of `logins.db` using DB Browser for SQLite. It contains:

• 392 records in `loginsM`
• 5 records in `loginsL`

The records clearly contain my saved websites in the `origin` field.

The table columns are:

`_rowid_` `id` `origin` `httpRealm` `formActionOrigin` `usernameField` `passwordField` `timesUsed` `timeCreated` `timeLastUsed` `timePasswordChanged` `secFields` `guid`

The `secFields` values begin with:

`eyJhbGciOiJkaXIiLCJlbmMiOiJBMjU2R0NNIn0`

Unfortunately, after discovering that my passwords were missing, I also reset my Mozilla account password. I understand that this may have affected the server-side Sync data.

My main question is:

Since the 392 encrypted login records are still physically present in the local `logins.db`, is there a supported or technically safe way to recover/decrypt those records and restore them to Firefox?

I still have the older `key4.db` and have preserved copies of all of these files without modifying the originals.

I am currently also attempting Windows File Recovery to look for an older deleted `logins.json`, but I would especially appreciate guidance on whether the surviving `logins.db` can be used for recovery.

1- Firefox shows I have windows 10. Not so. I have windows 11 home, version 25H2. This may be problem that causes the issues. 2- Since Update months ago, profiles, bookmarks and passwords disappear constantly only for me to replace manually the bookmarks and passwords to disappear over and over again. Don't need multiple profiles just one that works as in the good old days. Used it for years but cannot find help and ready to delete and just use microsoft edge. Totally out of patience. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
