The Address Book is completely useless to me if I can't add Contacts to it. There is currently no way to do this and no place to go for instructions. Can someone please post understandable instructions about how to find and then open my Personal Address Book or the Collected Address Book and then please tell me what the difference is between them? It is VERY non-intuitive.

For the last week whenever I open Mozilla ThunderbirdI get a problem with script running, then this: Script: chrome://calendar/content/calendar-month-view.xml:990

I don't use Chrome and don't know why this is interfering with opening the program. I have been clicking on 'stop script' twice to enable the program to run properly. How do I correct this?

Is it possible to sync Firefox/Thunderbird/Lightning (28.0/24.4.0/?) between a desktop (Windows 8.1) and a laptop (Windows 7)? I want to be able to make an email change on one computer and the change is applied to the other computer within a second or two. What do I do next to achieve my goal?

I am frequently receiving advice I have new mail only to find the new mail is in fact mail dating back some days or weeks. This may be 1 mail or multiple mails, perhaps up to 30 and is a real nuisance, Any advice most welcome, thanks. This only affecting Thunderbird, not Bell / Sympatico.

I've lost all my email contacts and messages before, what is the easiest way to create a backup and how do I restore them to Thunderbird. P.S. I'm not too computer literate. sorry.

Hi, I have 4 email accounts that i have had over 5 years and have a combined 20,000 plus emails.

I do not want to download all the emails when creating a new email account, and i do not want to delete them off the server as i would like to keep a record of them all if i need something in the future.

Please let me know the best way to deal with this. Ideally I would like to download just the emails for this year when creating my new email account in Thunderbird

When I try to forward an email, the template appears with this kind of stuff (partial example below) pre-printed. I have to remove it before sending the email (to clean the email up). Is there a setting somewhere that I can change to stop this? Thanks for any help you can give.

When I send an email to a "list" from my address book I would like to prevent all of the email addresses of the addressees from being visible to everyone byhaving the whole list be >bcc - how can I do this with Thunderbird?

For some reason I'm unable to ask a question or make a comment in the thunderbird support section. I'm logged in and have gone through all the subcategories, but it doesn't bring up any option to post.

I've fiddled with this for days, and can't get it to work. I downloaded and installed (I think) lightening and google prov ider but can't find them in the TB program under tools or addons. I have 2 monitors. Firefox on one the other is for my emails in Thunderbird. Yesterday was fine today you screw it up and my password isn't working. How do I bring up Thunderbird for my emails.

This may sound stupid but I am unable to reverse my accidental "ignore thread" on a number of my emails. It doesn't allow me to undo it and now all my emails from clients have disappeared and I'm incapable of finding them. All I want is for every email that comes in, to be at the top of the list, is there another way of reversing the process?

With Thunderbird, folders currently appear in the order they are created. I would love to be able to drag/drop them to a new location so my often-used email addresses are near the beginning and the less-used ones at the end. Tyty

Every month, I find that all the earlier e-mails have been deleted.

They are not in Archives, or Trash, either.

So I am losing quite a lot of messages which I want to keep.

What controls exist so that I can tell Thunderbird when I want to delete something, and not have it happen whether I want a deletion or not? And WHY is this basic information so impossible to find on any of the pages?

This is the error message:

'Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disc space to copy the mailbox.'

Another user on this laptop (ie my wife) does not have this issue.

If I open the Intray file with Notepad I can see message content deleted long ago. I always keep my Intray very small - why is the size over 10MB?

Messages from Hotmail keep coming into my inbox for several days at least after I delete them in Thunderbird. I sometimes have to go into Hotmail directly and delete messages. Why is this? and can Thunderbird be programmed to delete in Hotmail? Dennis Berdine
