I changed my password on my Comcast email account, and now I cannot access my email using Firefox. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about passwords anywhere on your support site. I've looked in every single menu item, and there is NOTHING to do with passwords. Help. Help me, please.

Thunderbird v 31.4.0 running on Windows 7 I use Thunderbird to read/organize my e-mail every day and have done so succesfully for years. My ISP is AT&T and occasionally, I get error messages when receiving messages indicating a problem with the incoming server, or sometimes with the outgoing server when sending, but until now, a retry has always worked to clear up the error. Now it looks like a solid problem. I am able to send e-mails, but I cannot receive e-mails to any of my 4 e-mail accounts (all AT&T/Yahoo accounts). When I click "Get Messages" I get the error:

  " The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message.  Mail server pop.att.yahoo.com
     responded: problem retrieving message"

I called AT&T support. First they asked me if I could verify my Account settings. Yes, nothing has changed. They asked me to try "inbound.att.net" port 995 as my incoming server. No help, I get the same error. They asked if I can access my e-mail using the browser at ATT.NET - Yes, that works fine. They said they find multiple reports of this type of error doing a Google search, but unfortunately, they say they do not support Thunderbird, so they can't help... Good Luck  :(

I suspect it IS an issue with access to incoming e-mail server, since I have not made any recent changes to my account settings and there were no Thunderbird software updates immediately preceeding this issue. Any help would be appreciated. I can read my e-mail online, but there are ads everywhere and much prefer reading and organizing my e-mail with Thunderbird. Thanks.

Attempted to forward an email, but what should be the Send button is only Send Later. Can't find a way to change that. Ctrl-shift-return doesn't change that setting. The dropdown choices of Find/send and Find/send later are grayed out. I don't know how this got set to Send Later.

I've created my junk mail parameters and it works fine. however, the junk mail still gets put into my inbox and I have to delete them each time. Why can't mail marked as junk be AUTOMATICALLY put in the junk mail folder instead of the inbox when it is received?

I have checked with my email account provider, everything there is ok and my account settings are correct. Also, I can access my emails via the web account, and see that I have messages there but Tbird just shows that it is checking for messages, then doesn't retrieve them, and there is no error message. I ruled out my antivirus as the problem by uninstalling it and still no luck so the problem seems to be with Tbird. Help.

I found the answer to this problem at this url https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1089454 Reset over 100 setting to default and today they all show their status as user set and the print preview doesn't work of course.

So, any ideas as to what's going on please? Thunderbird Version 38.7.0 is in use with Windows 7 x64 Pro Thanks

Last week I sent a Word attachment with an email and thereafter all the emails I forward appear as attachments. I want to forward emails in the regular email format, so I can see the content I send, and so the recipient doesn't have to open an attachment. I use Windows 7 on a desktop. Thanks in advance!

Hey, if someone with the power to move this to the Thunderbird area is on, please do. I can't ask a question about thunderbird because the page is broken at the moment.

So, this is a question about Thunderbird:

I've been asked to make our e-mail signatures link to facebook. I followed the steps of composing a message, inserting the picture of my e-mail signature, assigned the alt text and putting the link to our facebook page in the link section. My signature works fine. I can send a test e-mail, see my signature, and other people can click on it to go to our facebook page. I repeated the same steps on the first coworker's computer and it works fine. But when I did the same for our accountant and shipping department the link disappears. The pointer icon changes indicating there is a button/link to press but the link doesn't exist.

How to Restore a Mozilla Thunderbird Profile from a Backup Copy

My system files have been corrupted and I can not do a restore from a restore point (System restore failed). No remedy has been found. I will either have to (1) do a factory reset/restore or (2) restore to a prior date from a system image. In either event I will have to restore my Thunderbird Profile which contains several calendar .ics files as well as events and tasks. The Profile, the ..default file and even the calendar ics files are backed up.

First, once my computer is all restored can't I just go to appdata/thunderbird and delete the old Profile and copy my back up back in?

Second, this is also confusing because, while in my Thunderbird Calendar, I regularly “export” my several different calendar .ics files to a back up directory. This implies I must use the “import” functions to put them back in. This is confusing as Import & Export seem to be terms of art that are not the same as “copy”. Is this a distinction with arty difference? Must I import each calendar .ics file back into TBird while it’s running or can I simply copy it all back in when I copy in the *.default folder?

I have my main Local folders set to bring mail from my provider via Pop 3. I have the default inbox and a couple of dozen folders. Most mail should remain in the inbox but lots of it sorts by filters into the other folder.

The other day I started noticing that new mail was showing up in a folder named Medical. Normally only mail from my doctors or drugstores should go there.

Then today I noticed that the Medical had over 7,000 emails. In order to sort things out I renamed the folder to "+inbox" and then searched for the medical emails and moved them to a new Medical folder.

The next thing I noticed was that all new mail was going to +inbox and my default inbox was empty. When I move mail to the default inbox and run filters on it, it moves them back to +inbox.

How can I fix this?

I am looking for the easiest (not necessarily the fastest) way to export 8,000 old emails from Netscape Mail 7.2 to Thunderbird.

I want to export this mail from Netscape on an old PC to a new PC. The new PC already has Thunderbird but I am worried that a backup and restore process on netscape may overwrite the 12,000 (different) emails on this new machine with old email from the old machine.

I just don't understand the process to create new profiles etc and not sure whether Thunderbiord could cope with the combined 20,000 new and old email on the one version of Thunderbird.

Just a list of .emls (stored externally from Thunderbird) would be fantastic so I can use Notepad to read. But when you select more than one email in Netscape the 'Save As' option is not available !

Corrupted email and Conflict folders

For quite some time now, I regularly get folders appearing either in my Trash bin or outside it with names like "Inbox_PCNAME_Jan-09-122251-2016_Conflict_ADMIN_Jan-18-082650-2016_Conflict", where PCNAME is the name of my PC. I initially wondered whether it had anything to do with the compacting process while running my Synology cloud station backup, but it also seems to happen when this is turned of. I keep on deleting these folders, but each time I start Thunderbird, two of these appear.

Also, on at least two occasions, emails downloaded into my Inbox (local folder) were corrupted - e.g. the email content from one sender was actually showing up under the heading of another sender, or the email would be blank (and, on clicking reply, no addressee would appear despite the sender showing up on the original mail). To be more clear, if "Bob" sent me an email saying "Hello" and "John" and email saying "How are you", then by clicking on "Bob's" email the content "How are you" would appear.

Can anyone help please? Thanks.

Yesterday my computer was hacked. When I got that all fixed the one thing that came back on line in a mess was my Thunderbird E-mail. I have my columns pretty much back in order but have lost my MESSAGE preview pane, which I want on the side, not below.

list of subjects Date Time Tag Sender Message Preview Pane


The only information I can find is on FOLDER PREVIEW PANES(!).

Please help me get my message previews pane back up. I've been told how to turn off message pane. I'm going crazy here with all this useless information!

I have a Dell Laptop and am running Windows 7 and use Firefox for my browser.
