In Thunderbird, how can I stop text in the previous emails in a string turning blue?

I have looked everywhere in Settings where colour is mentioned and everything is set to black text on a white background. Nothing is set to blue.

I do not want to see blue text anywhere.

Please advise.

Just installed TBird on new laptop, had an awful time. On the main mail page, across the top, there is a search bar (ctrl k). Should there be a 2nd one below it in the middle? Trying to configure it exactly like my older one, but can't find the right selections. Had remote help from BestBuy Geek, she only got half of it. The 2nd search bar is there, and tried to take a snap of it but can't get it. It has the threads symbol, the attached symbol, and one other on the left, and at the end of that line is the symbol to select them. She missed that completely. Can anyone tell me what that part is called, and where to make the selections from? (easier if I could show it to you, sorry) As always, Thank you! Stacy

Hi

When Thunderbird is started maximized it overlap taskbar if is set to hide and taskbar won't show until Thunderbird is minimized and maximized. Another way is to press the Win key two times. Then the hided taskbar can be shown/use. The same thing happens to Firefox. Only when is first started. Then if Firefox is minimized and maximized, press Win key two times, press F11 two times then the hided taskbar show/hide normal.

It is a setting that can be changed to start Thunderbird and Firefox in full screen and do not overlap hided taskbar?

Since updating Thunderbird 64 bit to v147.0.2, then to v148.0 (1st March 2026, just now), requesting the display of 'Unified Folders' (in Folder Modes) does not populate the unified Inbox with messages from any of my eight registered email inbox sources. The individual inboxes with their contents can be displayed below, but not in the unified Inbox.

Since being introduced several versions ago, I have found this feature very useful when checking my various received emails, and it is frustrating to be without it.

Can anyone suggest what I may or may not be doing to get this feature to work any more? I have been all through Settings, but cannot find anything relevant to this problem.

Cheers, Sam

i am confused at this point: Double-click toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true in Settings/General/Config. editor, restart TB.

The row background and text colours can be set with css (see picture):

/* row bg, text colours for selected messages table view*/ tr[is="thread-row"].selected {

 color: white !important;
 background-color: red !important;

}

Help/Troubleshooting Info, Profile Folder, Open Folder, close TB, create a new folder named chrome, create a new document in chrome with a text editor, name it userChrome.css, Save as type: All files *.*, copy in the above code, change the colours as desired. Double-click toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true in Settings/General/Config. editor, restart TB.

Firefox added a Windows SSO check-box to its security and privacy settings and UI.

It corresponds to the "network.http.window-sso.enabled" prefs. My org now requires this to allow sign-in in, including for emails, so Thunderbird is affected. Any plan to support this prefs? I wpould be fine editing my prefs.js file in muy profile if no UI is provided. As of now, Thunderbird no longer is compatible with this org requirements.

In Thunderbird, I am trying to create an email filter, however, the screen/window display will not show the "OK" button to allow the filter creation to be saved for usage. After several hours, I have tried all the resolution changes, "resizing" the screen/window, "window" stacking, cascading etc, - nothing works to lengthen the screen to show the "OK button. I have other filters created previously, that work, but editing with changes have the same display issue. (HP Pavilion laptop-Windows10, i7) It appears that the bottom of screen is in a fixed position -see screenshot.

Any suggestions appreciated,

We have asked this before, and we still are not able to resolve it at all. Several items: We have two email addresses used by Thunderbird, for many years. [email1]@apaltd.com and [email2]@apaltd.com. Since the last "update", some many months back, her account has had TWO "sent" items/boxes, and they do not have the same items in them as "Sent". We tried to get rid of one, but to no avail. Also, the headings used to have features that showed "dates" in order and other normal things that we used all the time. Now these are gone and we have no idea how to get then back to way to the way opening page was originally, and we are seriously thinking about how to use another service, however we have been happy Thunderbird users for many, many years and need to return the site to its original layout. You folks have tried to help before, but none of the advice worked (i.e, right click on one of the sent boxes to remove it) We are reluctant to simply re-install Thunderbird lest we lose all our other data. We are at a standstill and need advice and help as soon as anyone can help. If any more information is needed, we will happily supply it. Thanking the community in advance for any help/solutions. Every eMail I get is now being marked as read when I move it to trash, including Spam, even if it is not read. I do not want this behavior. I did not change any settings. Thunderbird started doing this automatically, several days ago. I want everything that is unread to remain unread, ESPECIALLY Spam. I asked this question 8 months ago, but I have received no answers or support.

As long as I've used TB, which is many years now, I've had no complaints. I have absolutely no desire to change to a different program.

That being said, I'm at wits' end with the recent issue of Notification Sound Alerts (NSA) upon delivery of a new message. Simply stated, beginning about 6 or 8 months ago, the NSA seem to simply work whenever they want to. I can go a month or two at a time and receive the NSA, and then suddenly one day, NSA will stop functioning on its own. This "pause," we'll call it, will last 4 or 5 months, then then suddenly begin to work again.

I have attempted every imaginable fix as recommended in this forum. There's no need to list them all, because I've made every suggested adjustment that's been recommended. But there's no rhyme or reason to why the NSA will work as programed for a period, and then decide on its own to stop working.

I don't know if this is a glitch in TB that is simply beyond my feeble attempts to rectify, or if any other TB users are experiencing the same issue. I have even gone so far as to attempt to find an Add-On that will supplement the NSA. However, none that I have uncovered, particularly those suggested in this Forum, seem to be compatible with either the version of TB or Windows 10. I understand that Win 10 is not longer supported in the forum, but please! I do not want to migrate years of email files to another program. I want to use TB but simply need to be "Alerted" when new messages hit the Inbox.

Any assistance or suggestions (except those basic adjustments that proliferate the forum, i.e insure the sound mixer is not muted, etc, etc) would be greatly appreciated and thanks for listening.

I'm new to Thunderbird and am having a problem when printing emails. The page to be printed, when shown on the initial screen as well as when actually printed, starts with a long list of technical computer-related data which, in the case of new Inbox emails, takes up about 1 1/3 at the outset of the printed pages, even if the email message itself is very brief. Even when I click off "print using system dialog" at the bottom of the Print menu, that technical data (though no longer shown on the initial screen) is still included when printed.

I can't find a solution in the online help files.

Thanks for your help in trying to resolve this,

John
