Hello, I use the 32-bit portable 153;2 version of Thunderbird. But now when I label a message according to my list of labels by color, the selected message returns to its original color. Labeling no longer works, even though old messages retain their colors well. Thank you for your response. Ph. Costes

New to TB...

I know this setting pertains to auto-deleting messages, but is there a similar setting for manual deletions?

Let's say I highlight all old messages dated in 2023--450 messages for example--then I press the Delete key....if there are any starred messages in that group I'd like for them to either not be deleted or to get an additional warning like "Messages for deletion includes starred messages...delete anyway? Yes/No"

I'm guessing there's no such warning, but thought I'd ask....thanks.

I am a very long time user of Outlook Client (Classic) mail app from MSFT.

It has been my practice to annotate incoming mail by editing the subject. For example when I receive an email about a financial transaction such as a online payment or a charge, I edit the subject adding the amout, what was the charge/purchase for and sanitized last four of account number plus any other useful info. I move these emails to a separate folder, either "eBills" or "Receipts". That way I can quickly find receipts, bills, and other transactions without having to open each individual mail message.

Apparently Thunderbird does not support this functionality. Is that correct?

I've come over from Postbox as that app is no longer being supported. In Postbox there was one file (panacea.dat) that controlled how many old locations you would see in the Move To menu. Once the number of items got to be a bit too muchj, I would delete that file and it would clear the Move To menu item. Is there such a file in Thunderbird that controls the Move To menu, or can it somehow be controlled by a setting in Thunderbird? Thank you.

Hi, I'm Andrea, I'm writing because recently I have noticed problem with the status filter. When I'm creating a new filter and I'm appling a status contition, in the section where I need to decide the type of status doesn't appare anithyng ( view picture attached ). Is a problem about the last release updated or other? Please, write soon. Thanks Andrea

Using Thunderbird into gmail. If you click on All Mail you get all your mail of course. It is difficult to find the originating folder. The header Locations only gives you the location All Mail which is useless. I guess you could go into gmail and fiddle with Tags and Folders but haven't tried. Anyone know an easy workaround. And of course we should all be clamoring for a fix

Is there a way to set tags/labels that persist on the IMAP server? That way I can create an automation tool that can work with the tags that TB sets, or I can have the automation set the tags and have TB recognize them.

This is similar to what GMail does: if I put a tag in the client, I ca use an external tool to process the emails and that tool can see the label.

I searched and I see that IMAP is suppsoed to support keywords or tags but I don't see how that wokrs with Thunderbird.

Tags summary display has disappeared.

I can search for tags, but the convenient "tags folder" is gone. Please help.

Tried in safe mode with add-ons and toolbars/controls disabled. Error console is empty when assigning or removing tags.

Hi. All the inbox messages are marked "drafts".Have compared ALL settings with TB on my other computer and nrheyare the same.Both have version 138.0.1.This is very annoying and dont know when or how it started.Thanks for your help.

Why do I see a green dot only occasionally next to some saved messages but not next to other saved messages? Dzień dobry Mam taki problem, W programie Thunderbird mam skonfigurowane dwa konta obydwa na ....o2.pl Na jednym koncie co jakiś czas w folderze "Odebrane" znikają wszystkie wiadomości i po jakimś czasie pobierają się o nowa wszystkie nagłówki (co oczywiście trochę trwa) ale problem jest w tym że znikają mi zaznaczone etykiety. To bardzo utrudnia mi pracę z tym programem. Na tym drugim komcie nic takiego nie występuje. Sprawdzałem w konfiguracji serwera oba IMAP wszystko tak samo także w synchronizacji i pozostałe ustawienia takie same. Może ktoś pomoże ja w tych tematach jestem mocno w tyle :) Za pomoc z góry dziękuję Marek

I have 4 messages in my inbox (IMAP not Gmail). They are all labelled "Later" and one of them has a second tag "Important". These labels just appeared after I started using Thunderbird as from last month (2025-01-01). I found out how they should be removed: "More"-"Labels"-"0 - Remove all labels" or just click to toggle.

Expected behavour: Click to toggle off, stay off. Choose "0 - Remove all labels", stay removed

Actual behavour: With the pop up window open the label is gone, but when it's closed or another message selected, the label is back again.

Please help

I would like to follow up on a query I posted earlier this year at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1565806

Briefly, I want to move some more prior years' archived folders and messages to TBird's Local Folders. My effort to simply drag and drop the archive to the new location ran into trouble because (as I understand) the archive flag was not turned off in the move, leading to anomalous results. Is there a standard approved way to move archived messages to local folders, or should I just drag and drop and de-flag again?

Hello! I'm having a problem where a specific tag keeps un-applying itself. I have a number of filters that look for specific words in emails, and tag them accordingly -- all of my other filters are working just fine, but one specific one has decided to stop working. It has exactly the same settings as the other ones, and when I manually run the filter, it correctly applies the right tag.

But, minutes later, the tag will un-apply itself, and I cannot figure out why. For some reason, an older message is staying correctly tagged with that filter, but newer ones un-apply the tag. This same filter and tag used to work just fine. Other tags on emails from the same source work fine, too.

I have been using Thunderbird, but the tagging behavior has become erratic since version 153.

The phenomenon is as follows:

• Tags attached to messages are disappearing on their own.
• The tags disappear when I select a message or receive a new email.
• It does not occur with the default tags (such as "Important"), but only with the ones I registered myself.
• It also occurs in troubleshooting mode.

Is there a solution?

There is an mystery icon like an orange dot that appears alongside certain messages in the message list. I have attached a picture. Can anyone explain what it indicates.

I can tell you that it is NOT any of the following.

• Unread message indicator (these are shown in bold and have a green dot in another column)
• Junk mail indicator
• Threading indicator

All suggestions gratefully received.

I share an "info@" account with a coworker and we tag emails as done when we complete out work. I can tag "done" from my computer and it synchs with her account. When she tags "done" on her computer the tag does not synch in my account.

I should add that this was working fine until we got a new computer for my coworker and reloaded a new version of Thunderbird. Everything else is synching fine.

I think I am missing something in settings?

Hello. I encountered the following difficulty. There is an email address that is used on several computers. How can I make it so that each user can highlight a letter in a different color from the others to understand who is working with it? For example, one - red, and the other - green

When I let thunderbird compress the inbox and other folders, the not read flags on all new emails get reset as if I have read all of the new emails. Compressing the inbox and other folders should have no effect on the flags showing a message has not yet been read. That only makes sense. The not read flags getting reset started happening several versions before 145.
