My wife's name and email address are on my Personal Address book, and on my "export" address list, and on my "Collected Addresses". I have many times found emails from her in my Spam folder. Each time, I have marked them as "Not Junk". Yet it keeps happening. Why? Is there any way to tell Thunderbird that emails from people in my address books should NEVER be sent to the Spam folder?

I'd like to have only email address shown in received mails list.

Reason:

detect forged email is easier.

Things that do not work:

-addons, there is none that works with thunderbird 60 and it should be basic feature

-uncheck in options "show only name for who is inaddress book", done and people are not in address book

-open the email and read the sender there, that's known but is not what i asked

Example:

sender: "Posteo Support <their@mail.here>" but in the list is only "Posteo Support"

mail from friend that changed his name in google account and sent me test email, sender: "Posteo support <friend@google.com>" but again in the list is exactly as the real one: "Posteo Support"

This bypass spf, dkim and maybe also antispam because it's outside their scope

Same apply for s/mime digitally signed emails, there is no column for it, you have to open them one by one to check what is signed and what isn't.

It has been asked so many times in many years

there are multiple, now outdated, plugins for this

Can we have an official answer on why this bacic feature has not been implemented yet in 2018?

also had to type this twice as when i clicked post it said "access denied" and i have lost everything ':/

I'm setting up a new computer for an elderly lady. On her old computer she logs straight in to emails. But I want to set up on new computer but it doesn't recognise her email address or password - both are correct. Old computer is not Wifi so modem is connected by a lead. I've been transferring the lead to the new computer - but maybe I don't need to do that? Would that be confusing the configuration?

New European regulations (GDPR) require the use of BCC when emailing a group. This needs to be error proof as the cost of a mistake could be serious. The present system relies on me remembering to select BCC each time I write to the group.

Use BCC instead sounds OK, but I'm reluctant to use an add-in, as updates to TB could make it fail. And if I'm relying on it and suddenly it doesnt work..

Is there some way that I can create an address list so that when I write to that list it will ALWAYS use BCC? The contact data in the address book has about 50 fields, is there no way to set the preferred type of addressing?

I've read other replies to similar questions but none give the confidence in security that I'm seeking.

Thanks.

Occasionally some of my contacts said they were not receiving my emails. Therefore I sent an email to myself and it did not arrive. When I checked my sent box my email was there but the sent address consisted of the first part of my own address, followed by a completely different address, which I traced to a Spanish email provider: @d4.com.mx

It looks like my sent emails are sometimes being re-directed to someone else's address. How can this happen and more important how can it be stopped?

I have just completely reinstalled Thunderbird v115.11.1 after uninstalling the previous installation. There are two problems, possibly linked to a faulty or missing setting.

Remote images will not display, even after specifically enabling remote images for each email, or after turning on "display remote content" as a default. Also it claims there is a potential security threat with Thunderbird's own web addresses: "live.thunderbird.net." and "addons.thunderbird.net.".

I have attached screen-shots of the error messages, and of a thunderbird email that fails to display its images.

After upgrading to Thunderbird 60.2.1, I can no longer send messages. I'm running Linux 4.15.0-38-generic.

I get the attached error saying that I have problems with STARTTLS SMP. However, I have my connection security as SSL/TLS (second attachment). I haven't changed anything for years on my connection security. I successfully sent emails yesterday. Sending still works on my other machine (Windows) with v 59 and the same settings..

I use Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit) with Hotmail, using a local account on Windows 10. Microsoft is introducing 'modern authentication' on Hotmail, and I want to be ready for this, but I cannot follow the guidance at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d

If I try to alter my existing Thunderbird Account Settings for my Hotmail account, the authentication method for Outgoing Server (SMTP) is shown as Normal Password but there is no option to change it to OAuth2. If I delete and recreate my Hotmail account in Thunderbird, I get an error message from Microsoft saying that I cannot log in because my browser is not set to allow cookies -- even though I believe I have set both Thunderbird and Firefox (my default browser) to allow cookies.

Email is vulnerable to spammers. I've noticed that the emails associated with most of my social accounts have been leaked to spammers even though I never publish my addresses.

So I use the Filter mechanism of Thunderbird.

But I can't find how to "bounce" an incoming email, meaning to treat it as though the RECIPIENT account on my server does not exist.

Does anyone know how to get the Filter to bounce incoming email in this way? I think it would be more effective in cutting down spamming than just ignoring the incoming email.

Hi. I have tried to solve this problem for several weeks and then gave up...but now I am just missing too much content from my emails.

I am on Windows 7 with Thunderbird 45.8.0 (originally started with 45.0 I believe back in July 2017) and none of my emails display 100% of the images. I am receiving emails from Shutterfly, LLBean, other major retailers, my church, school, etc. and they are all missing images. It has been this way since I started on Thunderbird 45.x this summer (my old pc died, and I painfully migrated my ancient Netscape Mail to Thunderbird). My various troubleshooting has been:

1)My various iPhones and iPads with iOS ranging from 6.x to 10.x work just fine.

2)I have followed the popular article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/remote-content-in-messages and that is set correctly.

3)I have tried explicitly "allowing" sites/addresses in the Exceptions area of the above instructions and that does not help.

4)Multiple reboots of Windows and restarts of Thunderbird are of no help.

5)Googling for this problem brings up the web article I pasted above...I have also found articles where people are in the same boat as me: nothing seems to fix it.

6)I have checked the View>Original HTML and that does not help

7)There is no firewall on this pc (at home) so that is not blocking.

8)For the rare emails that say "click here to see this email on a website" that works just fine (I use Firefox 57.0)

9)There are some emails that display a few graphics...say, 2 out of 8 that are supposed to be there. My guess is that those 2 are not remote graphics. I have examples but I'm not sure how you would like me to share those examples with you. I have attached the Source if that helps.

I'm pretty stumped as I consider myself quite technical. I love Thunderbird but I have to solve this because there's just too much graphical content containing calendars/schedules/dates/etc. that I cannot see.

Any help would be great appreciated!

I tried deleting and installing Thunderbird several times but it still requires master password that I wrote when I installed StartupMaster add-on on my Thunderbird. I don't know what to do because it seems like I won't be able to install and use Thunderbird on my Mac any more? I thought that maybe there is a need to delete Thunderbird completely from my Mac but I don't know how else I can do it - I just delete the Thunderbird like I delete all other apps. Thanks for help.
