Hello, I have a problem sending emails. I keep getting this message: "Unable to open the temporary file C:\Users\[my name]\AppData\Local\Temp\nsmail.tmp. Check your 'Temporary Directory' setting." The point is this file does not exist. If I open App Data the mail might go through and it might not. I usually have do this repeatedly before the mail is sent. I have updated the program but the problem persists. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi there,

I'd like some help recovering emails from old Mozilla Thunderbird profiles.

I have removed my mum's old HDD and installed a new HDD in her PC. I need to get her emails off of the old hard drive, as her email server only holds emails for 1 month.

Can anyone help with 'importing' the old profile and emails in to a new Thunderbird?

Hello, I send out several emails a day but my emails keep getting spammed when I send them out to customers. (I do not send emails in large quantity, typically) Some have been able to whitelist me in their folders but for new customers this is not the case. Also, sometimes the customers who have whitelisted me say it still ends up in spam from time to time. Can someone tell me how to fix this or if I need to check some kind of box to keep this from happening?

First, you have put a lot of work in developing Thunderbird and it works like others don't, Thanks. And yes, I have donated.

Now to my situation, Thunderbird updated?? and now I have 1,000's of old emails in my mail boxes and my "Sent" copies of of emails are gone...Can anything be done to get these back?

As far as the 1,000's of old email, I assume I'll have to weed them out. ;-(

Don't know when, but it happened within the last few days.

Not much to see as far as a screenshot but can send one if needed.

Very stupidly I accidentally deleted my recent @btinternet account which had been working fine (I was tidying up old accounts no longer needed). After trying to add it back again I keep getting requests for password to sign in at all stages, even when opening up Tbird. This always results in the message 'login to server mail.btinternet.com failed. I have not (ever) changed my BT password. I can access BT webmail. I have added the BT account (IMAP) both automatically and then manually - same result. All this happened a few days ago and following all the posts on here I have waited patiently as recommended. However, I feel that this may be a problem other than BT server issue as it happened after I deleted the original account. Looking around I notice that the Local Directory for Message storage has two folders for mail.btinternet.com but that's the only thing I can see that may be wrong?

Hi there:

I am running Thunderbird on a Windows 10 machine. I have three email accounts on it; all are POP3 with Comcast as my ISP.

Over the past several months, I keep getting new message notifications in the associated junk folders for each account that all appear to be “repeat” messages that have landed before, and most are backdated to the same date—7/6/21 at 5:20 a.m. I also occasionally get other old-appearing spam dated from July, but predominantly the duplicates that appear all have that same above-mentioned date.

Because of my work, I can’t just let them sit there—I have to check multiple times daily to see if what is being flagged as junk is not really a work email that has been misfiled. So it is a time-waster when I have to go in and deal with these same junk emails that keep reappearing.

Today I tried to purge/clean this as best as I knew how. So far I have…

!) Deleted thousands of emails in all of the folders on all of the accounts that I no longer need.

2) Emptied all junk folders completely.

3) Updated Thunderbird to the latest version (91.3.2 32-bit).

4) Compacted all the Thunderbird folders in all accounts. (I should mention I didn’t know it was part of routine maintenance to do this, and had never done it before. I have now set the default to notify me to compact when the size reaches 20 MB.)

5) Cleared the Thunderbird cache.

6) Logged into the Comcast webmail for each account and made sure there were no spam messages sitting on the ISP’s server (none were visible in any of the accounts).

About an hour after I did all this, I got yet another 7/6/21 5:20 a.m. email in one of the junk folders, so apparently it didn’t work.

Hello,

I have had this problem a while back (more than a year ago) but would like to solve it. At the time the version 68 something came up I updated the running version in our home desktop PC.

Unfortunately and for the first time ever the update didn't work and we couldn't access Thunderbird at all. At the same time I had done the update on my notebook without any problems. My solution was to totally uninstall Thunderbird and reinstall version 60.9.1 and then copy the profile to the default location.

Since then I have been using that version but haven't tried to do updates to avoid going through the same thing alover again.

On my notebook Thunderbird updates are processing correctly.

I couldn't find any suggestion of similar problems in the forums then. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what was the error message that came up once Thunderbird tried to reboot once updated but it simply didn't restart.

As anyone had trouble with updates? And how did they solve the problem. I thank you very much for your attention, Renato

Now this menu disappeared and the new auto encodig feature do not work if i want to forward an iso-8859-2 encoded message.. Char set menu add on do not help in 91.3.2 anymore: If i select the added menu all menus become unaccessible till a TB restart..

At least once per day, I try to send a email with Thunderbird and I get an error message:

Send Message Error Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Connection refused - OXSUS003 101 - https://postmaster-oxsus.vadesecure.com/#OXSUS003_101.

I get this message each time I try to send an email again after the initial error. Then, at other times during the day, I can send emails with no problem.
