How do I disable the ANNOYING message box I get every time I want to send a message to the trash folder. Thunderbird keeps asking me if I want the message deleted to save disk space. This just started in the past week. I want my deleted messages to go to the trash folder and I will manage that folder. I can't seem to find anything in settings that lets me disable this option.

Can't change line spacing, font, colors in folder list or message list

something's changed in version 78 vs 68 for Windows 10.

Can you help me customize the line spacing (padding?), font, colors, font size in both the folder list and message list panes?

I've been trying several edits to the userChrome.css file and experimented with the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in about:config.

The mods I use to userChrome.css that work in version 68 don't work in version 78.

I've had some success with the message list but haven't found anything that reduces the space between lines in the folder pane. That's important for me.

the #threadTree section seems to work, but the #folderTree section does not. It would be nice to know how to change font type and size but line space is most important.

I have been working with Thunderbird on Linux since ca. 20 years. A few days ago, after upgrading to version 78.3.1 (64-bit), I had for the first time the problem that the font size and spacing of the folder pane was so large that I could only see a small subset of my folders on my laptop screen. So I studied the online forums and found that one has to create a userChrome.css file in the right place and put a style sheet in it to control the font parameters. With the following entry

I managed to decrease the font size, BUT this did not decrease the line spacing! So now the font is smaller but the lines in the folder page still are so widely spaced that too little is visible in the pane. I experimented with settings like

 margin-bottom: 0px !important;
 line-height: 1.0em !important;
 padding: -1px !important;

but none of them seem to have any effect.

What is the right parameter to change here and where is all this documented? (And why did this setting change in the first place after being perfectly fine for so many years?)

when i try to reinstall using an older version I am currently. using 68.12.1 and itried reinstalling because windows said there is no app associated with this. i tried reinstalling 68.12.1 and i got the following message and lost my addresses and contacts. i also get this message see attachment. i do not want the newer version. how do i reinstall this version and not have to start from scratch

My Thunderbird Office365 email quit sending. It happened about 2 weeks after I installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my system. I think it was coincident with an update of the system. My other emails work fine. It tells me the auth failed because "SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Tenant." Thunderbird has a limited number of SMTP authentication methods, and I tried them all. I went to the page the error recommends, and it is for exchange servers. I have microsoft365 from GoDaddy. Any help would be appreciated.

From a 2nd PC I saved Tbird emails intending to copy them into my main PC Tbird inbox. Doing so used to work with no issues. Now it does not work. I have them on my desktop and I do a drag and drop. I have also tried copy and paste. Is there something else I can try?

I have 2 identical Zoom invitations, one on my desktop and one on my laptop. The one on my desktop has the correct meeting time info (1800 to 1930) but the one on my laptop shows 1500 to 1630. This has happened two weeks in a row. Where is the laptop picking up the wrong time from? If accessing the emails using another application other than Thunderbird, the info contained therein is all correct on both systems. Any ideas?

I use an email app on my phone that allows me to view all my email folders that exist on the Server: INBOX SENT TRASH SPAM

But when I use Thunderbird, I cannot view the SPAM folder that exists on the Server. Even after manually creating a SPAM folder in Thunderbird. I don't see anywhere in Thunderbird to "subscribe" to the Server's SPAM folder?

I use Thunderbird. A short time ago a dialog box began to pop up each time I deleted an email, stating in effect, "hey, we can delete this and every other deleted email in your TRASH folder." Claiming to save a whole bunch of disk space. I once responded improperly and POOF! I lost a good deal of the stuff I sometimes refer back to. But it seems to matter naught how I respond, the current deletion is GONE! Please note, it is MY disk space we are discussing. I bought and paid for it and have plenty. I am also capable of periodically deleting those unwanted emails all by myself. Needless to say, my blood pressure goes up each time I hit delete. Please tell me how to stop this non-sense.

Perhaps it is that I do not understand, but now am afraid to do anything with deletions

I am using Thunderbird to view MBOX archive files from old employee mailboxes. I am able to import the MBOX contents using ImportExportTools NG. In the folder list I can see the name of the archive and what I assume is the number of messages (around 6,000). I don't think scrolling through the preview pane is showing 6000+ messages. Which is fine, because at 6000 search would be a better choice.

If I type the subject, or name of a sender or recipient which I can clearly see in the preview list in the Search bar, Thunderbird tells me no results found. I would like to be able to search by date range, by subject, or by message content. How can I do this?

For Sent emails, how do I see what delivery option(s) I had selected, such as whether I had sent it w Read Receipt? I just now went to an email I had sent a few days ago, and wanted to check if I had sent it with Options > Read Receipt selected, but I can't find where to view that info. I ran a test by for-sure selecting "Read Receipt" for an email, sending it, and then trying to be clever by doing a right-click on the sent email and selecting "Edit as New Message" to then be able to view that Read Receipt had been selected in the Options menu, but it wasn't selected. So that's surely not the way. It would be great if we could (1) Open the Sent email, (2) Select View, and (3) Select some sort of "View options selected" display to see what selections the sender had made. Maybe there's already a way to see the info that I can't figure out? Thanks.

I was using Windows Live Mail before switching to Thunderbird and have made Thunderbird the default email app however, when I right click a photo and select send to > mail recipient, it still opens window live mail and does not recognize TBird as the default.

When I first open TB I can send messages. But after 10-15minutes I get the error: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Unable to establish a secure link with Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com using STARTTLS since it doesn't advertise that feature. Switch off STARTTLS for that server or contact your service provider. So it works initially and then stops!

I am running Thunderbird 78.7.1 on Mac OS X 10.12.6 and there are a lot of UI issues with disabled inputs - for example I am trying to search messages and if I select 'Body' as the target for the search the dropdown value doesn't change and the search text input box won't accept any characters.

Same issues with adding calendar events with disabled drop downs and unchangeable text inputs

This is making TB very hard to use

When composing an email, if I select some text and click the text colour tool/icon, I see in the window "Choose a colour:" and a swatch. If I click the swatch, my colour picker pops up. I choose or make a colour, then...

How do I actually use that colour? How do I get it into the little Thunderbird text colour window? How do I apply it to my text? Am I doing something fundamentally stupid?

Recently the compact folders message I always used to get on Thunderbird has changed. I always compacted my folders routinely in the past.

However, this new message says that if I "proceed" that all my deleted messages will be purged.

Does this mean that my trash folders will be purged? I rely on my trash folders hugely--I need to refer back to them at least weekly for some reason or other--and accessing "unexpectedly needed after all" e-mails are crucial to my business.

I want to be absolutely sure that my trash folders will not be purged (they never were before--but the message was different then) if I click "proceed"
