Hi,

I have the latest beta installed (TB 45).

There used to be a setting for accounts under Settings --> Server Settings --> Advanced... called "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" which was handy to have unchecked if I only wanted TB to check my Inbox rather than all my folders. It seems to have disppeared from TB 45... does anyone know why or if there's a Config Editor way to replicate that functionality?

I've changed email hosts (while keeping same address), and in Thunderbird, created two addresses/accounts- one with my old host (hostbaby) and one with my new (dreamhost). I've been able to download all my emails from the hostbaby web mail into my Thunderbird inbox (the hostbaby settings account), but none of the folders download. I've tried many ways of transferring folders, with te4ch support from hostbaby, no luck. Then tried some online instructions, no luck. Any advice?

I have at least three computers accessing my email account using Thunderbird. Settings on all three exactly the same. But one computer no longer copies emails to sent folder upon sending. Times out on server. This is true no matter what folder I try to save sent copies in and whether or not virus protection is on. Have totally reinstalled TB and created an entirely new profile. I'm stumped.

I'm using an Active Directory server for lookups in Thunderbird (in Preference/Composition/Edit Directories).

When addressing a new message, when it finds a match as a type it fills in the information with the template "CN <primary address>". I'd like it to use "displayName <primary address>".

I've tried setting the following, but they don't seem to have any effect ldap_2.servers.<dirname>.DisplayName ldap_2.servers.<dirname>.nameFormat ldap_2.servers.<dirname>.commentFormat

Any ideas?

Using TB on Macs, one at work, one at home (plus iPhone plus iPad). Have been using POP3 since the beginning of time, using various strategies to make sure I'm using the same TB profile on whichever machine I'm using.

Can I do this: keep using POP at home (with "Leave mails on server" set) so that TB brings all the mail to my local machine, and then setup TB at work to use IMAP to look at my three email addresses?

I'm hoping this would make the work machine act like the iPhone and iPad: I can read mail on them, I can delete mail from the server, or just leave it, and then eventually when I get to the home machine, it gets downloaded into my TB profile to stay.

The error message i get is;

There was a problem including the file leaf_signature.png in the message. Would you like to continue sending the message without this file?

This has only just started to happen. They were loading up until a few days ago.

I have checked the route to the server and they are all in the correct location, and it is frustrating not to find the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an iMac 2011 with OSX 10.11 (El Capitan) just installed. Also updated Thunderbird to 38.3 today. Received a message on Firefox that Java was out of date and required updating. Tonight, when starting Thunderbird, it did not show folders in sidebar, and after getting new mail, I could not access message window (see image). The following came up in the error console:

I've migrated over from Windows 7 to OS X 10.11.14 and there seems to be a terrible lag with TB. Every time I switch a folder, I see a blue wheel spinning and it takes a few seconds to respond.

I've tried using my historical profile (8GB) and a brand new profile, no difference. Same blue wheel/ball spinning every time I switch folders (within same or between different accounts).

I've found one suggestion online about this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7278124?start=0&tstart=0 but it does seem to work for me.

Any advice? After a decade using TB, am I going to have to change??

Moving over a profile to a new computer, I deleted the old profile and now thunderbird will not open even when reinstalling it.

This is a brand new iMac and for some reason the folders created on my last machine to find the Thunderbird folder in the Library directory isn't there, so there's no where for me to fix this problem.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird but nothing is working to get the path recreated so I can place my previous profile, or any profile for that matter.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can't get emails to send in Thunderbird. I can send from my phone and my issues isn't Charter because I talked with them and sent an email from online Charter. My issue must be Mozilla related. I receive emails okay. My error message is: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.charter.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) setting are correct and try again." My settings appear to be correct.
