TB keeps asking me to re-enter all of my Outlook account passwords every time I restart

It worked fine until March 2022, but now every time I restart, Thunderbird keeps asking me to re-enter outlook passwords. Please help me fix it!

I often need to repair my inbox because of emails having the wrong header connected to them. As I have understood these problems are due to a corrupt MSF-file. Why is the file being corrupted and what precautions can I make to prevent such corruption?

TBird laggy and slow, and getting worse

Hi Folks,

I've read other posts for the same issue, and so far none of the suggested fixes have worked, or just aren't applicable (I don't use *any* calendar apps, for example... those are on my phone.)

As I'm typing, the cursor does not advance, until after a second or two it shoots way over, displaying what I was typing while it was taking a nap. It's very slow to advance to the next email up if I "up arrow" to read the next one. Now, it's even slow to scroll down the folder pane when I try to drag the scroll bar. It's just slow to respond to much of anything, across the board.

I've started TBird with all add-ons disabled, and I've turned off the "Global search and indexer" function. Neither of these has improved things in the least, and it's actually worse than before I did these things.

I *DO* have maybe 60 or 65 sub-folders dangling off the account, and there are a LOT of saved emails in them. Would saving those emails to disk or a USB stick or somewhere else and 'removing' them from TBird do anything to speed things up? It's really getting to the point where I'm reluctantly considering looking for an alternative to TBird unless I can get this cleared up... even *mostly* cleared up.

I'm really not willing to have to start Win10 in 'safe' mode just to get the email working like it should. I have enough trouble with Windows already without adding another 'search for answers' to the mix. No other apps are behaving like this, just TBird, so I'm reluctant to immediately point the finger at Microsoft. I'd rather exhaust all options within TBird before messing with Windows.

I was receiving the "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox". I uninstalled AVG Anti Virus which resolved the problem but now my inbox is empty. Can I retrieve them?

Struggling with TB constantly "downloading" x 10s of thousands of 10s of thousands of emails (all of which are downloaded), and the programme grinding to a halt. Have set the inboxes to a retention policy of 2500 total. So shouldn't even be trying to DL more than that. Seems to mainly manifest when I compose an email (exactly the time that the sluggishness is a problem). Have done the usual compacting/deleting * files.

This is getting to be a real issue now. I wonder if there's any paid support channels that can deal with this?

When I try to log in to my Mozilla Thunderbird email, I immediately get a XULRunner error window with this message: Error: Platform version '91.6.0' is not compatible with minVersion >= 91.7.0 maxVersion <= 91.7.0

I can't open my email at all. Help?? Screen shot of the message has been attached below.

I think I read something that said reinstall? But, if I do that will my email history still be there? I have one email that is particularly important and want to be sure i can access it.

Please help...

I have version 91.6 and have major problems: 1. It constantly freezes up - Almost every time I try to open an email the error message "Thunderbird is freezing" comes up. Sometimes it will be 3-4-5 minutes. 2. Every time I open it up, it asks for email password for each account. I put password in AND "SAVE" for each email account (4). I know they are there as when I go to settings and check on passwords, they are shown. But Thunderbird will still ask me evrytime. I will enter password and end up hitting "retry" 4-5-6 or more times before it will download my emails. I have wasted hours every day on downloading and trying to read my emails. I have so many folders filled with emails that I need to keep for followup from the last 3-4 years since Win10 would not let me use Eudora anymore or I would switch to Mail or Outlook. I had Eudora for over 20 years and had less problems in total over that time than I have every day with Thunderbird. I have reinstalled program several times over the past few months hoping to solve problem to no avail. To make sure it was not TWC or my computer, I tried Outlook. Whhat I got was instant downloads, no hesitations and instant opening of the email. If I did not hve to keep my old messages, I would switch, BUT, in this day and age of technology, I don't understand why Thunderbird ahs so many problems

Hello everyone!

I have a little problem, I hope you can help me in this. I had a Google account in my Thunderbird client, what I would like to remove completely. I went to the Account Settings and deleted the account, and in the Calendar tab I removed all Calendars which were connected to this account. Now, somehow Thunderbird keeps prompt about every half an hour me with the Google's "Enter credentials" authentication window... What should I remove in the application, to remove completely this gmail account? What I miss? :/

Can you please help me with opening the attachment directly in Thunderbird? I couldn't open the email attachment received. Every time when I try to open it in Thunderbird, the downloads folder pops out without file name and no option to choose 'Save as type' either. I can download the email attachment and view it. But I do want to view it directly on Thunderbird. Thank you very much!

I temporarily logged into customer email account in order to download the mail in it and transfer it to their email at a different webhost.

And in fact subsequent to that the email account was closed at the prior host by its owner. They actually deleted the email account at the old host "Bluehost" which admittedly is a garbage host and hence why they moved.

So I removed it from my email accounts in my Thunderbird.

For some reason since then I have been receiving constant popups from Thunderbird "Authentication Required - Mozilla Thunderbird - https://box2164.bluehost.com:2080 is requesting your username and password. The site says: “Horde DAV Server”"

and the username field has the email address in it. The password field is blank.

And I checked the outgoing mail servers in Thunderbird to confirm I have no connection to the email acct stored in Thunderbird.

Any thoughts on how to alleviate this issue?

BUT in one of the accounts all information appears in windows frames. How can I remove these red frames from all of my e mails in this one account?

Hello, My PGP key for one of my accounts stopped working while I was trying to draft a message. At first, the message said that my PGP key couldn't be located and thus my draft could not be saved (I believe I have all my drafts mandated to save as encrypted). I decided to delete the key from Thunderbird and try re-importing it. At first, it said the key had been imported successfully. However, when trying to select the key from my account page, nothing comes up. It's just blank. I quit Thunderbird several times and re-opened, only to get the same result. Now, after my most recent app restart, Thunderbird simply won't import my PGP key at all. Other accounts still have their PGP keys active, but not this one. I'm at a loss. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is this a new bug? I'm running the latest version of Thunderbird (91.8.0 (64-bit)) on macos. I've attached images. Please help! Thanks!!

I saw someone else who also had Windows 7 like I do ask about this error message, and the only answer was "Update Thunderbird." Just like me, he had Thunderbird 3.1.4. There was no follow up saying it worked.

Will the current version of Thunderbird *run* under Win 7? Or not? Updating my OS on my primary PC is not an option. 98% of Thunderbird works just fine, the only issue I have is that I can't download images in emails. I'm afraid to upgrade, and break Thunderbird.

Yes, I have a Win 10 laptop, but it's too inconvenient to use it most of the time, so it stays in the box until I have something I *have* to use it for. That does not include daily email.

I keep getting a prompt from Windows Defender regarding a security threat from my email : C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\3a9dgcsq.default-release\ImapMail\MYDOMAIN\INBOX->(part0131:Shipping_Documents.docx)

I chose Windows Defender to remove this threat, but nothing happens. I have tried to search for the file name, and also tried to look into my inbox, even deleting mail in the inbox with attachments. I then cleared the log of Windows Defender, but this threat still shows up.

I am unable to locate this file. Please advise as I am desperate.

Thunderbird v. 91.8.1 MacOSX Monterey 12.3.1 I keep getting this error message. "Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server. If so use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections" I have reduce the connections in 'Advanced' Server settings' to 1 but the problem persists. Sometimes I close it when I want to restore down, etc. Is there a fix for this?
