MIcrosoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space. To make more memory available, close workbooks or programs you no longer need. To free disk space, delete files you no longer need from the disk you are saving to.

I have 4.75 TB of disk space available. I have tried closing open programs and I still can't open the attachments.

I'm having the same issue as outlined here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1068987

Starting today I have been getting connection to server username@domainname.com timed out' errors.

I was running v31.x so I updated to 38.x but I;m till getting the issue.

- Two separate IMAP email accounts are failing; both are MediaTemple email accounts; neither config has changed; I'm able to access recent messages via iPhone and through webmail interface. - I've restarted Thunderbird in Safe mode, but that didn't help. I've checked password, and all other standard 'is it plugged in?' kind of things - I've gone into the config editor and upped the timeouts of mailnews.tcptimeout, mail.server.server1.timeout, etc. all to 300, no help here either

Any ideas how to fix?

This morning I started up Thunderbird, and noticed that several folders were missing.

I have 2 custom sub folders under the Inbox- those were missing. The Sent and Drafts folder went missing.

I've tried subscribing to the IMAP folders. If I do this, and restart Thunderbird, it will show the folders for a brief second, and then disappear.

I've tried rebuilding the folder structure by deleting the msf files in the Thunderbird profile directory.

I am connecting to an exchange server- and everything has worked fine until now.

I was notified by google that someone had my password and tried to log into my gmail account from out of state. I changed my password. Thunderbird requested the new password and I was able to download messages. Then I tried to send a message and again Thunderbird requested my password. It did not accept the password. Now when I try to receive messages my password is not accepted and I get the error message Login to server imap.gmail.com failed. The choices are Retry, Enter New Password and Cancel. I enter the new password and get the same error.

I went to Google help and I ensured IMAP is enabled. I do not have 2-step verification. I selected "Allow less secure apps to access mail." I clicked the link about Captcha. I've tried everything. I have the latest version of Thunderbird. 52.2.1. I am able to access my other gmail accounts.

Help. Thanks.

Hello,

I am running Thunderbird 24.4.0 on Windows 7. I am using no add-ons and I am only using a Gmail account with Thunderbird right now for testing.

I do not receive any new e-mail notifications. I did receive them once or twice before, but it is very random and rare when I do receive a new e-mail alert.

However when I maximize Thunderbird, it displays the new e-mail. So Thunderbird is indeed actually receiving the e-mail, it is just failing to notify me.

I have ensured notifications are enabled in the Menu Bar > Tools > Options.

I have tried using Add-ons such as:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/mailbox-alert/

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/new-mail-attention/

Which also do not help display alerts. However the "new mail attention" add-on does blink the Thunderbird icon on the Windows taskbar, so at least something can notify me.

I have also tried running Thunderbird in safe mode, and running it in compatibility mode for Windows Vista, both also did not help. This appears to be a bug in Thunderbird, as I have noticed other users mentioning the same issue.

Hi. I am using Thunderbird version 24.5.0. on a Windows Vista OS. I use a pop setting to connect to my email.

My problem is, when I try to check my MSN.com email account from Thunderbird, I get the error message:

"Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop3.live.com responded: authentication failed"

This just started happening earlier today after having worked fine for a very long time. I tried a number of things to fix it, including clearing out the saved passwords and resetting my password at MSN and then trying the new password and nothing has helped. If I log in directly from the web browser into the MSN email account it works fine. As far as I can see the password and user name which is the full email address is being entered correctly. Thanks for any help!

A couple weeks ago, Thunderbird updated itself, and my email life went to hell. The screen kept going black. Often all the icons on the email folders were missing. I often had to minimize and reopen Thunderbird to see anything. I was killing it and restarting it maybe 8 times a day when it hung completely. It crashed itself, and sent error reports, maybe 20 times a day. Absolutely horrible.

I finally found this article, that explains how to disable hardware acceleration:

http://www.askvg.com/how-to-disable-hardware-acceleration-gpu-rendering-in-mozilla-firefox-4-0-to-fix-font-problem/

That worked. Apparently in one of the recent updates, Thunderbird turned hardware acceleration on, when for my system, it needed to be off. (I dimly remember turning it off before.)

I'm running Thunderbird 31.6.0 on Windows 8.1.

Problem: many "hang-ups" or "Freezing". This happens often. Program is listed as "not responding" in the task manager. If I wait, often as long as 5 minutes, it usually comes back.

It seems to happen at random, sometimes when I click to read an email, sometimes while typing, and other times when i'm not even using the program (I try to switch over to it, and discover it's locked up.)

  • I get no error messages
  • This seems to happen at random
  • My internet connection is fine, and is still operational while Tbird is frozen up
  • My email accounts come from my own server. I have 4-5 accounts and run them as imap, with SSL
  • I have a few add-ons, should be listed below
  • I have no third-party firewall or virus program, only what comes with Windows 8.1.
  • Checking and sending email works fine (everything works fine) except when the program is locked up

I have been using Firefox for years and loved it above any other email client - until it started lagging a few months back. I don't know what caused it, it just started happening one day and never stopped after several updates and a few un-installs, it always returns.

The problem is pretty simple, every few minutes, at random periods of time (can be 10 seconds, can be 5 minutes) the program freezes and doesn't allow me to do anything at all. Sometimes, especially if I insist and keep clicking or typing, the screen whitens out a bit and I get a "non responding" message next to the program name. This lag can last anywhere between 10 seconds and 1-2 minutes.

I use it with Gmail and I should tell you that I have 100s of folders, but my inbox is clean. I never go over 100 emails in it at right now I have 4. I can't avoid the use of so many folders because of my work dynamic, I need to assign a new folder to every new client and several sub-folders for every provider associated with such client (I'm a travel agent).

I used to have Lightning installed but I removed it thinking it might be the cause of the problem - it wasn't.

I hope I can find a solution to it, I don't want to switch back to Outlook :(

Thanks!

Yesterday afternoon at approx 3:30 pm (July 22 2017) I successfully sent four (4) emails. I tried to send more at approx 5 pm, received message"

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.cox.net timed out. Try again.

I have spoken with my ISP (Cox Communications, Phoenix), they say my account is fine. It is active, I am not blocked from sending emails. Further, I successfully signed in to their online email service, and was able to send emails without error.

Cox says the problem is with my email software, or a setting. Settings were changed to day per Cox recommendations (July 23 2017). That I can identify, nothing changed on my PC yesterday.

Running Windows 10, 64 bit, all maintenance is current.

I can not send mail in ThunderBird sometimes. I am using 31.5.0 version but I was struggling this problem in old versions either.

It says: "The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server server name failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator. "

It occurs sometimes, not everytime. But really bad situation for me. It occurs with hotmail, gmail and with my own mail accounts. For now; it sends with all accounts except for Hotmail. I tried steps in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Connection_errors_-_SMTP , but there is no change.

I have 6 email addresses (1 primary, 5 sub-accs) my provider is AT&T/Yahoo. Server is inbound.att.net. About 7 days ago I began getting the "The RETR command did not succeed..." message a couple of times a day, the past three days it's been every time I open TBird. The error is only in the primary address, the others have been working as they should (but of course my most important messages come to the primary address). Three lengthy instant-chat sessions with AT&T "techs" yielded only that if I wanted to pay for the privilege, I could speak to 'some guys who specialize in Mozilla Thunderbird problems'. To cut a 2-day - long, frustrating story short, I eventually found my way on to the awful, ad-saturated Yahoo/AT&T browser and webmail sites. What I found there kinda surprised me. I had no idea that although I have been using Thunderbird as my email program for as long as I've had the computer, (4 years) all the emails that I receive go first to the AT&T webmail and must sit there for a long time - my most used address had "999+" emails all in the junk folder! Well, after a little while I got around to emptying all the old messages out of ALL of the addresses and lo and behold that did the trick; I assume (guess) that there must have been a "bad" message among all those that were being saved on the server at the primary address, and I deleted it along with the rest?? Yesterday and today TBird has/is working as it should, so my question would be, is it common knowledge, or common practice that one has to got to the IP server every now and then to empty out old messages, or is there some way to stop them from accumulating there in the first place? Apologies for my long-windedness. geomic2
