If I shut down thunderbird by mistake and restart it, my Gmail can't be read. There is a blue line at the bottom showing it is trying to do something, but it never finishes. I close every running program, reboot, and it works fine until I mistakingly shut it down again. I have several accounts and get hundreds of emails every day. I try to keep deleting them, empty trash, and compact folders. My Imap folders in my profile are huge. Many gigabytes. I plan to migrate to a new computer and don't want to move whatever is wrong to the new computer. This means I will have to start fresh, set up the accounts, fix the signature files, etc. Then I can export the address book and import them to the new computer. This will be very time consuming. Is there some way I can delete the saved emails from the profile file and copy the rest of the profile over?

Running TB 115.4.1 (64-bit), POP3 account, up until this morning everything was fine.

Now getting msg - "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."

Have more than 70 Gb free on my drive. Have tried: -deleting messages and compacting the inbox. -using TB's built-in repair folder utility. -deleting and re-creating the global-messages-db.sqlite file in my profile

Have logged into my email with my browser and can't find anything wrong with the account itself. Everything seems ok on that end.

Nothing has worked. Any other suggestions?

CCC ONE emails not working with Thunderbird

Anytime I attempt to send an email in the CCC ONE application, I get this error message from CCC ONE:

"Unable to perform selected action while the email application is open. Please close your email application and try again."

This error message persists whether I do have Thunderbird open or not. I also checked Task manager while I had Thunderbird closed and found no instance of it running. Is there any way that Thunderbird is running in the background? Or could it be if Thunderbird loads at start up that it's tricking CCC into thinking it's open all the time?

I contacted CCC ONE report and they advised me to attempt to change the name of a DLL file so a new one would be created to replace it. I tried that, the issue still persists. They also told me to try and uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, which I did, and it still won't work.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Started getting error April 10. I have SSL/TLS and Oauth2 set for Thunderbird account server and smtp. Looked thru lots of web messages - no joy. Via web browser I can connect to my Yahoo email without issue. My gmail account on Thunderbird still works fine (with its unique third party password). I am on current Thunderbird release 115.9.0 (64 bit). I disabled the only add-on that Thunderbird was using. Windows 11 Pro which is up to date. Plenty of open disk space. Have rebooted my PC multiple times.

Looking for suggestions Thanks Bob

When I try to send an email from Thunderbird sometimes it succeeds and sometimes it does not. Trying again sometimes works and sometimes fails again. It may take many attempts to get a message to send.

The "Sending Message" dialog box gets replaced by a "Send Message Error" dialog box saying, "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp-mail.outlook.com timed out. Try again. OK"

Thunderbird version: 115.9.0

SMTP Server: Description: Office365 (Microsoft) Server Name: smtp-mail.outlook.com Port: 587 Connection security: STARTTLS Authentication method: OAuth2

Operating system: Windows 10.0.19045 Build 19045 ISP: BT Broadband Antivirus software: AVG AntiVirus Free 24.1.8821.822

Please advise on how I can get all my messages to be sent successfully first time. Thank you.

I have used Thunderbid for many years. Lately it is extremely slow displaying and deleting emails; and is not saving passwords. It is fast enough to display images once the email is on the screen. I have tried reindexing and have added T to Windows Firewall allowed. No other antivirus on the machine. The problem is the same for imap and pop accounts. My profile has been on a NAS for several years but the slowness is only recent. I don't have any add ons. A possible clue is that there are multiple email folders in the profile - see attached screenshot. Should I delete the -1 -2 -3 -4 folders - and the associated msf files? The profile as a whole is 869 MB - 2168 files in 142 folders. There is lots of space on the disc. There are a lot of -1 folders across the profile.

I have a very small Tablet computer and Thunderbird is really bogged down on it. The tablet has a 32 bit processor, 1G RAM, 64G SD drive. (1) When I run TB I get many "not responding" messages from Windows. (2) Maybe 1/2 the time, if I "delete" a message the screen will freeze on the message. The message is removed from the inbox list. I have to click "X" to get rid of that screen. (3) Get Messages no longer works. When I click it, nothing happens. The status bar at the bottom remains on the last information displayed. I found that if I use View, Folders, All, I can bump TB to get messages. (Normally I use Unified Folders) The status bar will display each of the accounts it is checking and any new messages will appear. These things have been happening through many many versions of TB. Although #3 seemed fixed a few weeks ago but has returned. Same for #2.

I looked at the disk space that TB is using and found that TB is using over 10GB. See attached. I don't know why it is so large. I don't need to store any messages on this computer. I have a desktop that is my "base station" where I want to save all (but deleted) messages.

I don't know if this large amount of TB space is contributing to the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I have Thunderbird 115.9.0 64 bit on the 2nd latest version of Ubuntu Linux and by second latest I mean it is still supported even though there is a new version available. Several months ago there was a password problem with my internet account preventing me from logging into my internet/email service and all my devices could not send or recieve emails. I changed my password on my cell, my Windows 10 computers and they worked fine. My Thunderbird on my Ubuntu on the other hand rejected my password and I also checked all of my port and server settings with the help of my internet service provider tech support including comparing settings from other email clients. Still no password being accepted. My internet/email service provider tech agent suggested removing my account from my client and reentering it and this worked.

Several months later I changed my main email passwords again on incoming mail and outgoing mail servers on my account, verified my port settings are correct, which they were including the type of security and protocols used. When I select the desktop icon I get prompted to enter my main password and hit enter and the window keeps reoccurring as if it has rejected my password. I select cancel allowing me to enter and again clear and reenter password and again it is rejected. I removed my account (I think) and go through the motions of reinstalling my account and get a pop-up indicating the server already exists which puzzles me. Ports, security settings, password are all correct and tested on other devices. I can even use a browser and log onto my internet service providers server and access my account and my password works but not on my Thunderbird. Should I consider uninstalling and then reinstalling my Thunderbird on my Ubuntu? I think by mistake I deleted all of my emails BUT I have selected IMAP so my emails I want are still on my service providers server. IF I uninstall and reinstall how do I save my contact list. This I Inoticed is still intact. Suggestions please?

Occasionally I will see a set of Email messages that look exactly like the one in the attachment in the message body window. When I look at them on another client, they are fine, so I think they get downloaded to my Thunderbird incorrectly. I have about 10 or 12 messages that look like this (no change at all between messages).

Two questions:

1. Is this a problem others see (I only get it once in a while, both in the beta that I stopped using and in the current version).

2. When this does happen to me, what can I do to refresh these messages? I have not found anything in any of the menus that looks like it would help. I have cleared cache.

Thank you.

Hello, I have the following problem with the current version of Thunderbird (115.9.0 64-bit "Supernova"):

When writing an e-mail (no matter if only HTML format, or HTML and plain text) no list items are displayed (neither unsorted nor numbered).

Everything else, such as inserting tables, smileys, etc. works.

If I create a document with several list elements and sub-elements (indented elements) in Word as a test and copy this into the message in Thunderbird, the list elements are displayed from the second level onwards.

Even if I insert the whole thing as HTML code (ul, ol, li, ...) the same thing happens.

It is a fresh installation. I wanted to switch from Outlook to Thunderbird. However, this is really suboptimal:-(

Can anyone help? Many thanks and best regards Patrick

When I create a new folder in Local Folders, the new folder shows in the list and also appears in the local directory. However, if I close and then reopen TB, the newly created folder does not show in the list of folders in the Local Folder even though it still appears in the local directory, and I can see that the new folder contains data by the file size. I still have old sub-folders that I created some time ago available as normal in the Local Folder and I'm wondering if the issue may have been caused by switching from pop3 to imap a while ago as the folders I can still see were created prior to the change - but I'm guessing. Can anyone please suggest how to get the Local Folder to show the invisible folders within it after I restart? Thanks. I'm using version 115.9.0 (32-bit) on windows 10.
