Like one of your previous questioners, I have an unfixable security certificate within Eudora (ver 7.1) and I want to migrate its address book, settings and mailboxes to Thunderbird. During installation, migration from Eudora is offered but greyed out. What can I do about that apart from trying the previous questioner's solution of using an old version of Thunderbird? My OS is Windows 8.1

I cannot send a message to a mailing list (multiple recipients). It gives an error message "<email list name> is not a valid email address because it is not of the form user@host. You must correct it before sending the email."

I have been sending such mailing list for years but this is a recent problem. I tried changing the list name, without success.

Hello, i am using Thunderbird 38.6.0, 8 different pop accounts, all mails going to the local folders inbox. When replying to an email with empty ´recipient´, Thunderbird does not use the email ´account´where it was sent to , but another (unwished) email account in the ´From´ field. I can reproduce it, I would classify it as bug. Can anybody help me? Thank you in advance!

This is for Thunderbird. I had 7 or 8 email addresses set up in the "Home" tab. In each address directory I had numerous emails listed. Most of these emails relate to my business. After doing a Windows 7 update all these directories and the emails in them are totally gone - that is they don't seem to show.

I can still get my address book, saved files (mostly PDF's and JPG's), Activity Manager, Calendar, Tasks, etc., but all mail has dissappeared!

Is there someplace on my hard drive where they might be stored? One of my settings was to never delete from server - does that help answer this? I'm serious - I am missing 2-3 years of messages that I often refer back to.

IE: My folder pane is totally empty.

I am still having trouble understanding IMAP folder syncing in Thunderbird. On a previous post (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1099520), I talked about trying to get six different email accounts set up under IMAP to download messages to Thunderbird so I can back them up locally using a program called MailStore Home. That is mostly working, but two questions have emerged:

I was told that, when set to sync for the last 30 days, for example, and download, Thunderbird would download the last 30 days of messages. However, on day 31 it would download the new messages, but leave ones previously downloaded in the local folder. That is what I wanted. I set up my accounts this way. However, when I tried to back them up locally, the messages older than 30 days that had been downloaded previously were not found. They showed in the list of emails, but MailStore Home did not find them. My one account that had no new emails in the last 30 days showed ones downloaded previously, but the folder in Thunderbird was empty. I had to change to sync the last 90 days, and let Thunderbird then redownload the missing emails. After that, MailStore Home found them and archived them. I just want to clarify that Thunderbird, perhaps after I compact files, will actually remove previously downloaded emails that are older than the sync setting. I can work with this. I just need to remember to do my local archiving more often than the sync window.

My other question is, is there a way to force Thunderbird to manually sync the different email folders. This seems to happen periodically, but I cannot predict when. I could not find a plugin or command to do that. My intent is to just make sure that all my accounts are fully synced and downloaded before I run a local archive.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Because Thunderbird wouldn't accept new passwordfor SMTP server, only POP3, I tried to resolve it by deleting the account from tools - account settings and then re-entering the account with the new useername and password. It works but then all my downloaded emails are gone! How do I get them back - they must be somewhere on my computer as I've not actually deleted the emails just the account.

I have tried to export the emails from Windows Live Mail and this has created several folders with contents in one major folder under "My Online Documents".

When I request Thunderbird to Import the emails it does not seem to wish to locate where these folders are.It also only talks about Windows Express or Outlook "files". Are there specific fields that I should activate to enable it to locate the folders and then to see the Windows Live Mail folders please?

Thank you.

After installing an update to thunderbird last week (around March 9th), I am now only able to open up to the "home" screen on thunderbird. It does not allow me to read, edit, or write emails, when I click on any of these folders, nothing happens. the only way I'm able to actually "read" emails, is to right click on the folder then select open in another tab. I have restarted, rebooted, opened in safe mode, uninstalled/reinstalled thunderbird to no avail.

I can no longer log on to aol to read my e-mail, it has been working fine for many months but now when I click "get messages" I get "Login to server imap.aol.com failed." If I then click retry I get another dialouge which says "server grwengserv@aol.com has disconnected. the server may have gone down or there may be a network problem".

Ihave tried the following :-

1 Restored profile from backup.

2 Deleted profile and created new one.

I know my password is ok because I can log on using the aol browser using it and get access to my e-mail that way but this is not ideal.

Should I try a complete re-install of Thunderbird ?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Best Regards
