Sorry, I'm new to T-bird, and am not a geek. I have tried all kinds of instructions about how to copy windows live mail contact list to import into T-bird. They are not working. I get two error messages.

"An error occurred importing addresses from Text file (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt)."

"Error importing address book address book, all addresses may not have been imported."

I would really like to move my address book. WLM is acting up for me and I am liking what I see in T-bird so I really would like to make this work.

Greetings,

today I decided to work on my PC and do some needed cleaning and updating. Part of which is to end my addiction of Outlook from Office 2007. So, I installed Thunderbird.

Problem is, the connection between Thunderbird and Gmail is not working. I've watched the Thunderbird video (didn't help) and read various online articles. Nothing is helping.

I have the ports at 993 and 465. Although I do receive the message 'The following settings were found by probing the given server'. I get two other messages.

1. My user name or password are invalid. They're not.

2. Incoming Server Already exists.

I've tried all I can think of to correct these and nothing is working.

I downloaded version 38.1, so I will be able to migrate old .pst files into Thunderbird.

What am I doing incorrectly?

I have just I upgraded to TB ver 78.4.0 (32-bit) the upgrade seemed to go normally but the new version did not work. in detail: 1- i have received no new email on either of two google-based email accounts since the udgrade. 2. I continue to get email on the Google Email page for at least one of the accounts on the same computer. 3. when i click on "Get Messages" nothing happens 3. Past messages are still in my inbox and they open when selected 4. messages will not actually send but I con click on write or resend a previous message and type and send and go through all the steps BUT they are not delivered and the only error message I get is that the message wasn't saved. 5. I have started TB in safe mode - no difference 6. I have shut off ESET NOD 32 - and No change

  Mail Provider: Gmail
 Antivirus: ESET NOD32 ver 14.0.22.0
 operating system: Windows 10 
 this was an upgrade to Thunderbird ver 78.4.0 (32-bit), I have used TB for many years with no problems

I will be so grateful for your help. I have tried everything i could think of. FRN

Today I installed on my wife's computer version 68.2.2 over an existing version (cannot recall number). All addresses emails have disappeared. New version works, but cannot see any of her original information.

I have checked the profiles folder:

Two profiles: 0ys99ku.default-release and hrzce6bw.default

The second profile contains all of her past info ... need some guidance as to how to get the new version to recognize the older profile ... thanks John

Sorry to insist, but I'm totally stuck. The lastes TB upgrade has deleted all the messages that I had received, but the file still exists when I open TB, contrary to the sent, draft and trash files which have also disappeared. On the C: drive, the INBOX, SENT, DRAFT and TRASH files have been deleted (or hidden ? or displaced ?) and all I see are .msf files. 3 years' work down the drain. I can no longer receive or send any new messages. This concerns only the mailbox which is on IMAP. I have another mailbox with another address which is on a traditional POP server, and it still works. I tried to understand something to the report, but it is too complex for me to understand what went wrong. I couldn't find any information or solution in the GetHelp section. If I download again TB I fear I might definitely lose everything. Are the deleted files hidden somewhere and retrievable or totally and definitely lost? Or should I use another software more compatible with IMAP? Thanx...

My old mail account is POP3 only. Incoming, POP3, mail.tpg.com.au, 110, STARTTLS, Normal Password Outgoing SMTP, smtp.tpg.com.au, 587, STARTTLS, Normal Password After many attempts Thunderbird 78 failed to add this new account.

After removing ver.78 an old ver.68 was installed and the new account was added without any problems on the first try using the settings shown above.

Does this indicate that Thunderbird v.78 is no longer compatible as a POP3 client or is this a serious bug?

Hi folks,

i tried to install the ImportExportTools NG for my thunderbird (the version without NG is not supported with my software version) but the import doesn't show up in tools. There is only the standart import tool, which doesn't find the mails of a removed email account.

Any suggestions?

I use thunderbird on ubuntu

Have TBird 78.5, but when following video, it shows version 52(?) When I get to "open folder," it shows going to a "roaming" folder, but when I open that folder in 78.5, no roaming folder appears. Not sure where to go from there. Can I copy the entire info in the profile folder and move that to the new computer? Thanks!

I've just bought a new windows 10 laptop. Did a full backup of thunderbird 78 using mozbackup. Installed thunderbird 78 on new laptop, restored profile and emails, did not get back any local folders, account settings, when I reconnected to gmail it started sucking in every email I have ever sent or received into one big all mail folder.

Yesterday, when opening Thunderbird, it came back saying that I am a new user and required that I start over. I have 3 profiles... 1) one dated 1/2/2016 and two dated yesterday 2) 12/4/2020 4:44 am and 3) 1:17 pm. I am assuming that the first one is old and can be deleted and the two from yesterday identify my current account (#3) and the account I wish reinstated (#2).

Please help me find out how to attach to the correct user profile.

Hello!

I tried to install Thunderbird setup 78.5.1. Setup asks to reboot the computer to complete a previous uninstall of Thunderbird , but after reboot and starting setup again, the same reboot message comes. This happens many times, reboot does not help.

I had earlier some older version of Thunderbird, but it is removed with Windows Control panel.

How can I uninstall previous version complete?`

1) how do I find my previous thread content? 2) do any replies get emailed to me? 3) The mozillazine info on data rescue seems to be out of date, and doesn't work on the current version. 4) Is there another email client that can just lift my file structures and my thousands of emails and my address books and use them? I think thunderbird is beyond rescue at this stage.

I can just copy all the emails to desktop folders, export all address books, kill and rebuild thunderbird, then manually create the files, drag all the emails back in, and re-import the address books, but if there is a quicker way, I am keen to hear of it. I can't do it right now, anyway, as I have to get some notebook maintenance/replacement done, and reload everything. at least I have most user data backed up in on-drive, including the profiles folder (via shortcut)

Thunderbird quit receiving emails, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird. After the new Thunderbird install, it will not allow me to setup a new email account. After config, it gives me a "cannot find email info on server", and doesn't allow me to setup the email account. I can "force" a setup by clicking on the Advanced Config button, but that email setup will only send emails, and not receive email, or setup any more Folders beyond the Inbox folder.
