Looking for a portable version of Thunderbird. Is portableapps.com the only option? I don't want to install an extra program, just want a portable Thunderbird.

I deleted my thunderbird email account and now cannot access the emails I had received. I am trying to find them on the computer and import them, but don't know how to do so. I am using thunderbird on windows 8.1. All help much appreciated!!

Thunderbird has been working great for me for years. I'm on a Windows 7 desktop computer.

The new version 31.1.2 got auto-installed yesterday, and now I have the popup window to "Add Security Exception" happening all the time, even with different mail servers (Yahoo and Google). I can't believe that both Yahoo and Google simultaneously had their certificates go out of date. So I think the problem is in Thunderbird.

I've submitted a bug report on Bugzilla, but for now I'd just like to revert back to version 31.1.1 (or whatever preceded 31.1.2). How can I do this?

I have a batch of .eml files from a previous Windows Live Mail that I want to move to my Thunderbird Local Folder (V 52.7.0). I read that you can drag and drop these files but I do not know where to drop them in Thunderbird. Can anyone assist please.

I am running Ubuntu 16.01 which included Thunderbird 38. I want to add the Lightning calendar so I need to update to TB 45. I have downloaded TB45 (thunderbird-45.1.1.tar.bz2). What do I do now? When I click on the TB45 it offers to Extract it with Archive Manager, but then what????

I'm migrating everything from an old Windows XP machine on to a Windows 7 PC, and can't use my original email client, Outlook Express. But I need to import the OE address book from the XP PC to Thunderbird on the Win 7 PC. Any ideas?

I have thousands of emails in my Thunderbird folders on my computer. I am now installing TBird on my new laptop but don't want years of emails downloaded to my new computer. Is there a way to limit the downloads (I set mine to download automatically to keep copies on my computer). I'd be thrilled if I could set up all my email accounts in TBird to only download by date, even if it is this year. Is that possible? Thanks, Bob

I have been trying to use the Import feature within TB, but for the life of me, doesn't allow importing form Outlook 2010 ( i have set Outlook as the default email client) but the Outlook option is greyed out. What else can i do?

I have been using TB for abut three years with a certain e-mail address, but I never created an address book. I have now changed e-mail addresses and I would like to create an address book with the addresses of all people who sent or received e-mails from my previous address. How do I easily create an address book without having to go into each e-mail and manually add to my address book?

First off, I love Thunderbird. But:

When I send an e-mail, a copy is stored in the 'sent' folder on my computer. So far, so good. However, when I send an e-mail (using the same Hotmail account) using another device (an iPad), this is NOT downloaded or synchronised with my main computer. The problem is not with Hotmail, because the 'sent' message is correctly stored in the 'sent' folder in Hotmail (accessed via webmail). It's just that Thunderbird does not seem to downloaded messages sent using another device.

I would be very happy if there was a solution to this :-)

I'm using Thunderbird 45.8.0 on OSx 10.6.8. I got a new computer running Sierra with Outlook. Can I/how do I export my Thunderbird profile, contacts, and emails in their hierarchy structure in one file so I can import it into Outlook?

Help DESPERATELY needed!

Problem: Thunderbird installed with 2 different AOL accounts. Can receive, but cannot send as says:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 <dr.marco.carl@aol.co.uk>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user marco.carl. Please check the message recipient

The PC I am trying to install it to is my new desktop PC. Using Win 8.1, Firefox and Thunderbird

MUCH WORSE: I have a notebook, also with Win 8.1, Firefox and Thunderbird AND the same settings as my desktopn, but with the notebook I can send, the desktop not?

How can I fix this? I tried everything, read through hundreds of tips on the I-net, but found nothing! Googlemail works.

Pretty annoying I now write my mails on the desktop, save em as draft and send them off from my notebook.

I found the option Tools > ImportExportTools > Import MBOX file as the answer of my inquiry but I have just installed Thunderbird on my computer and I don't have this options in my Tools panel. The attached image is what I see in my Tools panel.

Please help. I am trying to move my outlook live email to thunderbird. After filling in the name /email address and password info I get the pop up error creating account and incoming server already exists

I got a new PC and installed Thunderbird on it as at 1 April and sent some new emails. I then went back to the old PC and did a full back up of all my email and address book. When I installed the back up on the new PC I can't see the new emails as well as the old ones or the address book. How do I merge the back up with the current data so I can see all my old and new emails and both address books?

Installed Thunderbird on new computer. Local folders successfully migrated, but auto-complete not remembering email addresses. The formhistory.sqlite is 192KB, so assume the info is there. What should I do? Thanks

Running T-bird 24.5.0. On Ubuntu 10.04. There seems to be no way to change/set the password. Here's a snapshot of the screen showing an edit of the account: http://k4gvo.com/images/smtp.png I can't see a way to set/change the password and an exhaustive search of other menus including the config editor didn't help. For some reason, probably due to an automatic update, it stopped sending emails. I manually installed 24 to see if that helped but it didn't. This profile/account is probably 5 or more years old so there's probably something in the profile that's hosing it up. I attempted to add a new mail account so I could set the default outgoing server to it but it didn't let me. It went through all the motions but when I look in the list of accounts, it's not there.

I created a new user account on the the system and it let me create a usable smtp profile without a way of changing it however.

I'd be glad start over if I can save the emails, however when I tried copying the Mail/<account> directories to another user to test, they never showed up.
