I can't delete messages on mozilla thunderbird on Linux Mint , none of the delete options works, so I found for myself a temporal solution, that consists on create a new folder inside the inbox, and then move the mails to that folder, then delete the folder. But however I think that's not a good solution to delete the mails, so I want an update if possible, for linux mint that solves this problem.

Greetings, Fragmentado

Hi, I have 4 email accounts that i have had over 5 years and have a combined 20,000 plus emails.

I do not want to download all the emails when creating a new email account, and i do not want to delete them off the server as i would like to keep a record of them all if i need something in the future.

Please let me know the best way to deal with this. Ideally I would like to download just the emails for this year when creating my new email account in Thunderbird

Suddenly, Thunderbird 52.1.1 e-mail program refuses to open pdf attachments! Instead, when I click "open," the Thunderbird e-mail template appears with the (un-openable) attachment in the attachment box.

Must have been something I unwittingly changed. Am unable to correct my error. Would greatly appreciate a solution!

I have ported to a new machine (win 7). I have successfully exported and imported my address book which I find contains only 7 entries. It is now only that I realise that for a long time Thunderbird has been using addresses from its "collected addresses" to suggest the person in the address bar and that all those hundreds of addresses are not saved in my address book. How do I access my (what must be hundreds of) "collected addresses" and get them on to my new machine?

Thank you

My system files have been corrupted and I can not do a restore from a restore point (System restore failed). No remedy has been found. I will either have to (1) do a factory reset/restore or (2) restore to a prior date from a system image. In either event I will have to restore my Thunderbird Profile which contains several calendar .ics files as well as events and tasks. The Profile, the ..default file and even the calendar ics files are backed up.

First, once my computer is all restored can't I just go to appdata/thunderbird and delete the old Profile and copy my back up back in?

Second, this is also confusing because, while in my Thunderbird Calendar, I regularly “export” my several different calendar .ics files to a back up directory. This implies I must use the “import” functions to put them back in. This is confusing as Import & Export seem to be terms of art that are not the same as “copy”. Is this a distinction with arty difference? Must I import each calendar .ics file back into TBird while it’s running or can I simply copy it all back in when I copy in the *.default folder?

Thunderbird 38.0.1 Windows 7.1 Click on "Write". Contacts side bar opens with "All Address Books" as default. It used to default to the LAST USED Address Book. ["All Address Books" displays a combined list of ALL the contacts in ALL the address books]. How do it get it to default to the 'last used' address book please?
