Hi

In Thunderbird version 128, the table view displays the subject line with different font colors based on tags, as shown in the example below.

https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2024-07-30-07-16-08-b0bfa9.png

I’ve seen at Thunderbird's release notes that Thunderbird supports displaying different font colors based on tags in the card view, as shown in the example below.

https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2024-07-30-07-28-44-d4881a.png

However, in my card view, the subject is displayed in white font, and only the tag label is highlighted, as shown in the example below.

https://assets-prod.sumo.prod.webservices.mozgcp.net/media/uploads/images/2024-07-30-07-20-48-f841b4.png

I would like to know if the card view in 128.0.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11 has the capability to display the subject line with different font colors based on tags. If it does, could you please advise on how to configure it?

Happy to see thunderbird is doing better and better recent years. I think it is now the time to add an option to allow it automatically startup in the background on system startup, which has been asked for several years. That is a really useful option, why not just implement it?

I think there are 2 ways: 1. Just automatically startup in the background on system startup and receive messages 2. Register a service in the background to receive e-mails and pop up notifications, and in this case, we don't need to add this option

The first solution may be easier to implement, but the second seems better? Anyway, thunderbird should have one of them

BTW, add an option to minimalize when click on 'close' button. I know there's an extension for this, so why not just integrate it :-)

Thanks!

Using Thunderbird 128.0.1esr

Been a few years since I've used Thunderbird for email but am fed up with MS Outlook. Even with Layout set to "Classic View" and Density set to "Compact" my Inbox Message List shows the SUBJECT of the emails and the "first line" within the message. How can I configure my Thunderbird to ONLY show 1 line of information, JUST the subject, etc.

I could find no such option in...options.

I just got the Thunderbird 128 Nebula update (128.1.0esr), and in Cards View, the fonts in those cards are now smaller than they were in the previous version I had (115.14.0). All the other fonts in my "vertical" view panels look the same as before (e.g., the Folder, Message and Show Today panes), but card font in the Message List Header pane is definitely smaller than before. (I am in the Unthreaded view, so the cards are also larger with empty/wasted space on the third line, but that's another story.)

I know I can adjust the overall density and pixel size from the "hamburger" menu, but that adjusts ALL fonts, and I just want the fonts in the cards to be increased (the others are fine). Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Presently I have minimize Thunderbird to tray icon set, this is fine. But I want Thunderbird to minimize to tray icon when I click the 'X' instead of closing out altogether. Since there's no setting for this, is there some kind of secret sauce like an add-on or a manual mod of the registry to enable this?

Many thanks.

Using Thunderbird 128.0.1esr (64-bit)

I have just bought a new Windows 11 laptop to replace older model. Using the old laptop, email messages are displayed in a single line format, which you click to open the message.

Using the new laptop, messages are displayed in two lines, taking up more space.

I much prefer the less cluttered format, and wondered whether anyone could advise the settings I need to alter.

Grateful for any advice.

On my new T-bird installation, I cannot find a way to add Send-Receive as a customization of the toolbar area, nor do I find so far any other way to send-receive, aside from interval-based automatic sending and receiving, and of course composing and sending a new email. Em-client has an easily accessed send-receive button, as does my long-time Outlook desktop client.

Hello, I have a question about the interaction between the import profile functionality and IMAP synchronization. I am currently in the process of transferring a domain, and during that process the existing emails on the IMAP server for that domain will be lost.

If I have all the emails for that server in a thunderbird backup, and I then transfer the domain and set up another IMAP server for the same addresses, then restore the thunderbird backup, will the emails from the backup then be added to the new IMAP server? If not, does anyone have a recommended way to achieve this?

Thank you

Is there any way to set up TB to have only ONE Delete action per keypress? That does not mean a limit of one message per Delete keypress -- for example, if multiple messages are selected, then a single Delete keypress should delete all selected -- but just that the Delete key must be released and pressed again for successive Delete actions.

[Searching on this topic before asking, I noticed a number of questions regarding multiple unwanted or inadvertent Delete actions, which all seem to boil down to this question, but could not find an instance where this simple question was asked, let alone answered.]

I could not find anything in TB Settings or Config Editor (searching "delete", "keypress", "key"). There were a few suggestive Config Editor variables containing "key", but none seemed on-point. Is there any documentation on Config variables?

I currently have a strange setup for email and I've been using Outlook 365 up until now. My concern is that Microsoft is saying that they don't want people using passwords and I'm not sure that I can continue doing what I'm doing today and still use Outlook 365.

I have an Outlook.com email address and I have a second email account from a totally different provider. I forward all of my outlook.com email to this second, alternative email account however I do not use the alternative email accounts SMTP server to send my mail. I instead have my SMTP settings in Outlook 365 to use Outlooks SMTP server. I do this just in case someone decides to look at the email's header information so it the outbound information in the header does not expose the email address of my second alternative email account. Doing this pretty much ensures that I get very little spam as outlook.com scans it before it gets forwarded and my alternative account scans all forwarded email a second time before it appears in my inbox. So to be perfectly clear my inbound pop server settings are configured for my alternative email address and my SMTP settings are configured to use Outlook.Com's SMTP server.

Getting down to the heart of the problem Microsoft says that soon I will no longer be able to use my password with their SMTP server and they indicated that Thunderbird could be configured to use OAuth2 instead and they even provided an screen shot of the setup. Unfortunately, Outlook 365 does not provide the ability to configure the SMTP server to use OAuth2 so this is why I would like to know from a Thunderbird expert if it can be configured with different inbound and outbound server settings and that I can use OAuth2 instead of passwords.
