My Thunderbird just updated recently, and the new version of the emoticons are really ugly (sorry to say), especially the smile emoticon, which looks really bizarre. How can I either revert to the former iteration, or add some simple smiley faces, frown-y faces, etc.? (I am referring to when I am writing an email, and I want to insert an emoticon into the email.) Thanks & much appreciation!

I've read a lot of help on this - almost all of them say, "As you have discovered there are three visible TO/Cc/Bcc fields..." and: " type or select email address and press enter to move to next TO field".

None of that works. I have only ONE visible "To" field. It has no controls to change it to a Cc or Bcc one. There is a "CC" or "BCC" option beside the "From" field. Pressing Enter at the end of an address does precisely nothing.

Another copy of TB on another computer has all the features you gaily point to - but mine doesn't. Where do I find it?

I am visually impaired. I just downloaded the latest T-Bird, versino 78.7. I use a a Mac with Big Sur. I have difficult reading the list of mails in my Inbox. I cannot make the font larger using Zoom nor by adjusting font size in Preferences. These affect individual messages but not the inbox list. There is an add-on but it is no longer supported by my version of Tbird [Theme Font and Size Changer]. It's frustrating. I thought Mozilla people wouild help with something like this. PLEASE someone please help me. Thank you.

Hi, One of our client have an issue in the body of new email. The font is very small but the received email show a correct font size, the image he used in signature is okay. If we use the zoom (ctrl++) the font is okay but the img in signature is very big so it's not the right way to solve it. We have try to reset the display in options but nothing change. If we "reset" TB with moving the pref.js and creating a new account : the font is ok so it's something whithin the pref. I can't see anything weird in the file. If I can avoid to recreate from scratch all of his config it could be great ^^

Thanks for your ideas ;-)

I used to use Windows Live Mail and recently switched to TB. I love TB but there is something I miss about Live Mail. It had the main icon in the taskbar change (to show a little envelope) whenever it received new mail, not just a popup. know I can add an icon on the right side to show there is new mail but it doesn't always work. Is there any option or addon to have the main TB icon change to indicated there is new mail?

Please help me. I'm not great with this kind of stuff, but I really depend on Thunderbird! I've been hunting for a solution for hours, and have seen a couple of solutions from Toad-Hall, but I'm confused because those have varied, and I have another question besides.

1) Thunderbird disabled the add-on, but I have seen no difference in my fonts, which I'm happy with, but which is strange... Did this release actually fix the font sizes?

I have not yet removed the Theme Font & Size Changer add-on, because I don't want to be faced with the small text until I'm sure of a solution. In the past 2 days, Thunderbird crashed 3 times, having never crashed before, which brought me to learn about the add-on issue. Is that why it's been crashing?

2) So do I actually need to remove or work around the add-on despite its apparent preferred size? Or else in simple terms please explain how to work around the add-on, and also in what order I should remove the disabled add-on. I really appreciate the help.

My company has switched to using cloud Microsoft Office365 Outlook as the email server, but I would like to use Thunderbird to manage the account, and use the Thunderbird junk email filter.

However, I am not allowed to turn off junk filtering in Outlook, and have not found a way to set up Thunderbird to even recognize the default junk folder in Outlook, which is named "Junk Email".

By default, "Junk Email" is not listed under the account directory by Thunderbird, and Thunderbird does not appear to allow any name other than "Junk" for the junk email folder that it uses.

At the very least I would like to be able to monitor the contents of the "Junk Email" folder on Outlook, using Thunderbird.

Extensive Google searches so far failed to yield any insight on how to do that.

Thanks for suggestions!

I'm trying to copy of a list of names (all of whom are in my TB contacts) into the To field of a new email. According to the FAQ titled "Changes to the addressing area in Thunderbird 78" under the sub-heading "Adding new recipients", one option is:

"Copy and paste comma-separated recipients into the address field, then press Enter."

I have the names in a Word file as follows: "Joe Doe, Jane Doe, Bill Smith", etc. When I copy that list and paste it into the To field, the names are highlighted in red and the "Send" button is greyed out. See screenshot attached. (I have removed the 'From" email address for purposes of this screenshot.) What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

My elderly mother uses Thunderbird for her email which is, inevitably, something of a lifeline for her at the moment. She has it set up in (and is used to) Vertical view, so she has her folders in the left pane, the list of messages in the middle pane and preview in the right pane. Currently the Reading pane, on the right, does not "size to fit" so the preview only shows (for example) the left-hand half of the message. She also cannot see all of the buttons within the reading pane, such as Delete. The only way I have managed to get her visibility of the full width of the Reading Pane is by dragging the left margin to the left, which renders the middle pane unreadable, therefore is not a solution. I'm sure there is a simple fix and would be grateful for any suggestions!

I am not getting desktop notification when a new mail arrives. I have checked Show an alert in Options > General. It seems like when I close Thunderbird the entire process is being closed and in that period I don't gent any notification if any new mail arrives. When I open Thunderbird again after it a few seconds (when it's finishes sync) the notification pops up. Is there any way to get notification when Thunderbird is not being used or closed? Like when I turn in Facebook notification in FireFox, FireFox still sends me notification when it is not used. I can't open Thunderbird all the time to get a notification! -_-

This did not happen in the previous version of Mozilla Thunderbird.
