Thunderbird 38.0.1 Windows 7.1 Click on "Write". Contacts side bar opens with "All Address Books" as default. It used to default to the LAST USED Address Book. [I've only noticed this new behavior in the last few days.] No matter which address book I select, Write now always opens with "All Address Books". ["All Address Books" displays a combined list of ALL the contacts in ALL the address books]. How do it get it to default to the 'last used' address book please?

I am running on TB release 60.5.0.

In the TB previous release, TF&SC worked fine for text (font) size control on incoming and outgoing messages. In the latest TB release TF&SC does not support the text (font) size.

The text size is miniscule. I can use the "ctrl +/-". However, this procedure is a drag when TF&SC has worked flawlessly in the previous TB release.

Is it not time for TB to have built-in text/font sizing control?

Your help on this issue would be appreciated.

This often happens, and it stops your support from being any use to me. My current problem is, for instance, that I just want to change the default browser that is opened when I click a link in an email. Your solution page for this (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/make-firefox-your-default-browser) directs me to "preferences", "general" (no problem to find this) and then to a button "make default" that is just not there: my "general" tab window (see encl. screenshot) looks totally different from what you show. I work under Freshbook, an adaptation of Ubuntu.

Running TB 38.0 on an iMac, OS 10.6.8. This seems to be new problem as of the past day or two. I noticed all sorts of extraneous contacts listed in the sidebar, and realized that those were in an address book, separate from my personal addresses, that lists incoming addresses I've granted permission to load "remote content." Eventually, I realized that this was because the pop-up at the top of the contacts sidebar was set to display "all address books" rather than my "personal address book." If I reset the pop-up to "personal address book," it displays the correct list, and will default to the "personal address book" in subsequent composition windows that I open during the same session. However, if I quit TB, when I relaunch TB the sidebar reverts to "All Address Books" by default. How can I get it to retain "personal address book" by default, even if this is the first message I'm composing after launching TB? It did so in the past!

I am new to Thunderbird. I installed it on my Windows 10 PC and there is a blank line between each inbox entry. So far I am unable to figure out how to get Thunderbird 60.6.1 on my iMac (running Mojave 10.14.4) to automatically insert a blank line (i.e. double space) between each inbox entry. I find that the double spacing makes it much easier to review incoming messages.

Thanks

Yo all !

I just upgraded an old Outlook 6.x express to TB.

To my surprise the mail filter apparantly misses an essential functionality.

You cannot filter a mail address on it's domain, but only on the entire mail-address.

So instead a single filter on "@hotels.com", You must create a filer one each (new) name that appears, like

offers@hotels.com last_chance@hotels.com spam@hotels.com etc... etc...

And especially those ...pain-in-the-a***... rayban sunglass spammers, that change name every week cannot be filtered (thay know that TB misses this, so thats why thay do it).

This lack of funcionality is allso decribed in the online doc. with the use of the "from" and "is" in the filter rules, which only takes the full address.

COME ON MOZILLA - make the (simple) patch, so We can sort out an entire domain instead of that bird-picking.

I thought I upgraded from Outlook Express, but apparantly not, because this functionality has been there since ages...

Im soon looking for another client.....

After the most recent update, Thunderbird went to Dark theme. I tried to put it back to Default theme, and it is still in Dark theme although with the task bar headers default. Putting it on Light theme makes everything washed out and colors are wrong. I was happy before with the appearance, now it looks childish and ugly. This last update seems to have broken the appearance. Can I roll it back?

Hello all,

I have my laptops Thunderbird taking emails from certain contacts, copying them to a local folder, then moving the ones on the server to the trash, and deleting the trash emails once a day (separate setting, not part of the rule).

Now I would like to mark the moved emails as unread, but I can't seem to find out where to do that in the above rule. Is this even possible?

I have two POP email accounts on AOL. One, arbitrarily called Verizon Email, works. I get the email downloaded and get no problems. The second account, AOL Email, does not download, nor does it send email. Attached are screen shots of outgoing email tab on the Settings for the Thunderbird account. Can you tell me what is the matter from just these two screen shots or do you need more information? Each account is identical to the other. I have read everything that I can find on the forums and nothing seems to work.

I want to filter mail using link locations hidden in the mail's HTML code.

Example: The link visible to the reader might be "Click Here"; but the site it links to might be "UselessScamSite.ru". I want the filter to find and filter according to "UselessScamSite.ru".

Hint: Telling TBird filter to find and delete mail containing "UselessScamSite.ru" in the body (or anywhere else) does NOT work.

How is this done?

Thunderbird changing existing color, and occasionally font, from original messages in replies

Hello,

Thunderbird keeps consistently changing text color (always) and font (sometimes, intermittently) when I reply to a message. I hope the attached images will make clear what I mean.
I have many e-mail exchanges where individuals involved use both font and color to make it instantly possible to distinguish who said what, and often in what order, based upon the font being specific to the individual and the color specific to the response given.
You will see in the attached screen shots that the original message contained two different fonts in dark blue colors. When I hit "Reply" the compose window switches all the text from the old messages to black. In this case it wouldn't matter much, but it can be very disorienting when you have an e-mail exchange going on that's got more participants all of whom use signature fonts and change either the font and/or color as the conversation progresses. Having everything "go black" removes essential context.
I also find it odd that when you place your cursor in the middle of existing text and open up a new line to insert your own material that the new material always mimics the last font that was in the material you've just "split open" to add your own reply. In virtually every other e-mail editor I've used when you place yourself in existing text and split it apart by hitting a return the opened area typically would use the font and font color you currently have specified in the compose window.
If there are settings I need to tweak to:

1. Force Thunderbird to maintain all existing fonts and font colors when replying to an existing e-mail message,

2. Get Thunderbird to use the font and font color I have chosen in the compose window any time I split existing quoted material to add new material,

I'd love to know what those settings are.

I don't think it's news that the proliferation of TLDs has just meant more spam. But legitimate email so often is misclassified by Thunderbird's "adaptive filtering" that I have to wade through my spam folder every day anyway.

My current main filter is called BigSpam, and nearly every day I have to add a new TLD to it. All entries are: From -> Ends with -> TLD

Just today I added ".fun" TLD. Yesterday it was .ir (Iran). Last week I added .za (South Africa). And of course .cn, .mx, .info, .xxx, and .ru were charter members of my spam filter.

What I would like, and what I think the vast majority of users would like is a filter that says, "If the from address does not end in .com, .net, or .org, trash the message. Don't leave it in a junk folder, that i have to check to make sure I didn't miss something important. I don't know anyone in South Africa, and while this isn't a slap at South Africans, most of them know no one in the US. Maybe everyone (except the spammers) would be better off if we could block the TLDs coming from foreign countries we have no contact with.

Here's what it could look like: Radio button "Match ALL of the following"

From Does NOT end with .com

From Does NOT end with .net

From Does NOT end with .org

Delete message.
